About the Hilo High School Student Credit Union
The Hilo High SCU is a fully operational branch of Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union that is run by students, for students. The Student Credit Union promotes financial literacy and has an operating board of directors and tellers who help students deposit and withdraw money and open checking and savings accounts.
The Hilo High SCU is run by students with teacher oversight, and functions like a regular branch of Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union.

How to Sign Up for a Student Credit Union Savings Account
Go to the Hilo Branch of Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union at 111 Aupuni Street, Hilo, HI, 96720, near Just Crusin' Coffee of Kilauea Street.
Bring the following items and information:
- $5 Cash to Deposit
- Hilo High School Student ID or a different Government Issued ID (Drivers license, State ID, Passport)
- Social Security Number
- Mother's Maiden Name
- Physical or Mailing Address
If you are interested in opening a Checking account, you need parental consent and must be 15 years old or older.
What are the benefits of a Student Credit Union Account?
A Student Credit Union account is different than a youth account at another financial institution. Youth accounts require a parent or guardian to be tied to that account, however, a Student Credit Union account belongs 100% to the student. Parents are not required to opening up a Student Credit Union savings account. If you are interested in opening a Checking account, you will need parental consent and be 15 years old or older.
