March 24: Informational Meeting for Summer Opportunities |
Do you know what to do with your student this summer? It's going to be a long summer, so it's time to prepare in advance to keep your student happy, productive, and out of trouble. As a result, the Hilo High School PTSA, along with Charlene Masuhara and the Key Club, will be presenting multiple options of employment, education and internship available to qualifying students this summer. This informational event will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24 in the Hilo High School Cafeteria. It is open to all students and family members. Light refreshments will be served. A very short PTSA General Meeting will also occur during the evening. Mahalo, Karen Welsh PCNC Facilitator Hilo High School |

Important Message from Principal Dircks regarding Hilo High Seniors |
The following message has been broadcast via the Hilo High School morning bulletin and will appear on the HHS website. Please make sure you advise your student(s) of this important mandate.
Our 2010 Commencement Exercises (May 21st) is quickly approaching. "Walking the Line" is a privilege and not a right. Each and every senior meeting the qualifications to graduate with a Hilo High School diploma must earn that privilege. What could prevent you from walking the line? If you commit one Class A or B offense or multiple Class C and/or D offenses during the 4th quarter (March 22 - May 22) , you will not walk. That is, if you are found in violation, I will remove this privilege of walking the line from you. Walking the line is one way to give something back to your family. Please make good decisions. I hope to see ALL graduates on May 21 at the Edith Kanakaole Tennis Stadium. ~Mr. Dircks |

Do you want to serve on the Hilo High School Community Council? |
|
The Hilo High School School Community Council is in need of an alternate parent and alternate community representative for the 2010-2011 school year. Incoming freshmen parent/guardians are encouraged to apply for the parent representative position. Just send me an email and I will forward a form to you. We also need a community representative. This is someone who lives in the community, but does not have a student at the school. If you know of someone, please forward this email to him/her. We really need a few committed parents/guardians to step up to the plate for both the PTSA and the SCC. Please don't leave it to someone else. Please become involved. Together we WILL make a difference! Aloha, Karen Welsh PCNC Facilitator Hilo High School |

Shop and Earn $$$ for Hilo High School |
There are three ways to shop and earn $$$$ for Hilo High School and its students. First, you can go to http://escrip.com and sign up for the escrip program at Safeway and Macys. It's very fast, simple and very safe. After that, the only thing you need to do is shop and, each time you do, a portion of the $$ you spend automatically deposit funds into our PTSA account. The second is, when you shop at Sack N Save, just give them the Hilo High code 7575 along with your Maika`i Card and they will designate the amount you have spent towards our school. If you can't remember the code (7575), just tell them you want it to go to Hilo High School. The schools with the highest amounts will be awarded several college scholarships! The third is "Sport Up Today With KTA." Tell the cashier you are sporting up for Hilo High when you go through the checkout line. They donate $$ towards sports equipment and travel, which we dearly need. So, help today without doing much of anything...other than what you already do anyway! Mahalo from all of us at HHS! After School Tutoring Available for Hilo High Students |
|
Tutoring is offered from 1:30-2:30 p.m. each Wednesday on the patio directly behind the main office. If you have a student who needs help in math, reading, writing, etc...please make sure they come, even if you have to meet them after school and bring them! Snacks will be provided. We can also use more reading, math, literacy, writing tutors each week, so if you have the time, please come and help out. Also, if you have a student who is advanced in math and English and can help tutor other students, please tell them to come out and help. If they are faithful volunteers, I will be more than happy to write them a recommendation letter for their scholarships. Let's all work together and fill the patio with successful teachers and learners! |
