BUTTER COOKIES
 
INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 ½ cup flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla (optional)
Prep Tools:
  • mixing bowl
  • mixing spoon
  • 2 spoons or scoop
  • cookie sheet
  • oven mitts
  • rubber scraper (optional)
  • electric hand mixer (optional)
  • wire cooling rack (optional)
Appliance: Oven
 
DIRECTIONS:
  1. Cream butter until smooth and soft.
  2. Add sugar and beat well.
  3. Add egg and vanilla, mix well.
  4. Sift flour and salt and add to mixture.
  5. Using # 70 scoop shape cookies into balls. Flatten slightly to about 3/8” thickness with a glass dipped in sugar.
  6. Decorate with red and green sprinkles.
  7. Bake on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until edges of the cookies are light golden brown.
  8. Remove baked cookies to a wire cooling rack to cool.
YIELD: Approximately 40 cookies
