BUTTER COOKIES
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 ½ cup flour
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla (optional)
Prep Tools:
- mixing bowl
- mixing spoon
- 2 spoons or scoop
- cookie sheet
- oven mitts
- rubber scraper (optional)
- electric hand mixer (optional)
- wire cooling rack (optional)
Appliance: Oven
DIRECTIONS:
- Cream butter until smooth and soft.
- Add sugar and beat well.
- Add egg and vanilla, mix well.
- Sift flour and salt and add to mixture.
- Using # 70 scoop shape cookies into balls. Flatten slightly to about 3/8” thickness with a glass dipped in sugar.
- Decorate with red and green sprinkles.
- Bake on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until edges of the cookies are light golden brown.
- Remove baked cookies to a wire cooling rack to cool.
YIELD: Approximately 40 cookies
