Letter to Parents - Distance Learning to Continue Through Quarter 4

March 8, 2021

Dear Parents, Guardians, Families and Friends,

As our state plans to prepare students for the return to in-person learning, Hilo High School will continue with our distance learning program throughout Quarter 4.  The amount of academic loss on a blended A/B/C schedule would be too great, having synchronous instruction 2 to 3 times a month versus 2 to 3 times a week with distance learning.  Though, we will continue to ramp up in-person instructional efforts for students by transitioning more students back to school.  Our teachers will continue to provide lessons virtually and our Learning Hubs will continue to be open.  Our Learning Hubs have been expanded to include a Senior Hub, and a Freshmen Hub, along with our general Learning Hub.

We continuously appreciate your support as we navigate through these ever changing times. We know this hasn’t been easy, and we all thank you very much for everything you are doing to help your child(ren) succeed.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our counselors and or school administration at (808)313-5500.  If you want more information on our Freshmen Hub, please contact Vice Principal Jason Trimble at (808)313-5510.  Contact Kellie Frias at (808)313-5534 for more information on our Senior Hub.  Take care and be safe!!!

Sincerely,

Jasmine Urasaki

Principal
