Boys Basketball Tryouts
Interested in playing for our boys basketball team? There will be a Boys Basketball tryouts TODAY, Novembr 7, TOMORROW, November 8, and Wednesday, November 9 at the New Gym from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Be sure you have your Physical Form completed and turned in to the athletic trainers. If you have any questions please call AD Kaeo Drummondo at 808-313-5600. All forms can be downloaded on the athletic page of our website. See you on the court!
This week for College and Career Visitations.
The University of Portland will be visiting on Thursday, November 10, 2022 during period 1.
Then, the rescheduled Kupu Summer Youth Conservation Program will also be visiting on Thursday, November 10, 2022 but during period 3.
If you are interested in any of these sessions please see Mrs. Frias in N-103 to sign up and get a pass.
Viking Band
The Hilo High School Viking band is having a fundraiser every Wednesday in the month of November. Kozmic Kones will donate $1 to the Viking band for every Chicken Katsu Plate bought. Come to Kozmic Kones every Wednesday to support the Viking Band!

Want to join wrestling? There will be an official tryout TODAY, November 7, 2022.
There are currently Mat practices, conditioning, and lifting in the Old Gym at 3 pm after school. For more information email: [email protected] you can also follow their Instagram @hilovikingwrestling.
[VIDEO] Winter Ball
Hey Vikings, Winter Ball is here! It will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at the Hilo High School gymnasium. This year’s winter ball theme is “Midnight Magic” so w ear your best magical midnight attire! The cost will be $25 to attend and no outside guests will be allowed.
Please check the eligibility list outside of room A-16 for your name. If your name is on the list, you are eligible to pick up a packet for Winter ball. If your name is not on the list, please check at the office with Mrs. Hoota to see if you have any obligations.
If you have any obligations, please clear them by Nov. 15 at 3:30 pm to be able to pick up a packet. The packet pick up will be from Wednesday, November 16th through Friday, November 18th. You can pick the packets at F-Building during lunch! Packet and Payment will be collected the week of November 28th through December 2nd at F-Building during lunch!

[VIDEO] Christmas Corners
Guess what time of the year it is?
Christmas!! Hilo High will be bringing back our family holiday night on Monday, December 5, 2022! The theme this year is “together for the holidays” and we’ll be having crafts, hot cocoa, entertainment, and our school wide Christmas corners! Christmas corners are where groups of students decorate their hangout spot for the Christmas spirits all over campus! If you and your group of friends are interested in decorating a corner for this event, please come to Mr Yamamoto's room, R13 this Friday at lunch for an informational meeting. Thank you!
Class of ‘72 Alumni Guest Speaker
Attention Vikings! Accomplished business owner and alumni Duane Kurisu coming on Thursday, November 10th during period 3 to tell his inspiring personal story and encourage students to strive for success.
If your teacher is not planning to take your class, you may pick up a pass on a first come-first serve basis in room A-16.
Scholastic Art and Writing Awards
Hey creative Vikings! Are you interested in award and scholarship opportunities? The Scholastic Art & Writing awards are open for submissions. The deadline to submit is December 15th, 2022. Go to artandwriting.org for submission guidelines or see Ms. Z in room L-4 for assistance.
ASVAB Testing
All 10th-12th graders, the next ASVAB administration is on Wednesday, November 30th, 2022. The test will be administered in the Learning Resource Center and will start promptly at 8:10 AM. If you are planning on joining the military post-high school, you will need to take the ASVAB. Email Ms. Arquero at [email protected] to reserve your spot.
Due to COVID-19, the number of test-takers per session has been reduced to 30.
The LRC will be closed all morning on Wednesday, November 30th, 2022 to accommodate the test and reopen during lunch.
