Good Morning Vikings! This is your K-V-I-K-S News Bulletin for Friday, November 3rd, 2023. I’m Mr. Matenge. The periods today are 2,4 and 6.
Lunchtime Rally (10/31/23-11/3/23)
On Friday, November 3rd there’s going to be a lunchtime rally in front of B-Building.
Freshman, come join us with your fellow freshmen, and upperclassmen. A total of 4 teams will be accepted to participate. Each team must consist of 3 students from the freshman class and 3 students from any upper class. Signups will begin at recess on Friday, November 2nd at A-16. Prizes will be awarded to all of those who participate.
Senior Luau Packet Bids (11/2/23-11/3/23)
Attention Seniors! Today is the last day to turn in your Senior Luau Packet & Payment. Please come to room, R-13 during Lunch to turn in your packet and payments. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Yamamoto in Rm. R-13. Mahalo
Christmas Corners (11/1/23-11/3/23)
Interested in decorating your favorite hangout spot & a night of holiday cheer? If so, you're in luck! Hilo High’s Christmas Corners is an event held every year at our school in order to get people into the Holiday spirit. At its core is a "Corner Decorating Contest," where friend groups and clubs alike are able to decorate their favorite hangout spot on ampus and compete for the top prizes. The event will also have a number of activities such as decorated “corners,” arts and crafts, hot chocolate, meet Santa Claus, performances by student groups, and much more! We will be holding an informational meeting on Friday, November 3rd at lunch recess in room R-13 for those interested in participating in the Decorations contest. Come by to learn more and pick up packets for your friend group or club! Unable to make it to the meeting? Make sure to stop by room R-13 anytime before the turn-in date of Monday, November 27th!
PALC Sign-up (10/30/23-11/3/23)
Aloha, Vikings! Are you a writer, musician, dancer, or storyteller? If so, please consider submitting a piece for this year's New Playwrights Festival! PALC is looking for scripts, songs, scenes, dances, and other performances to showcase the many talented students here at Hilo High School. Mahalo!
Girls Basketball Tryout (11/2/2023-11/6/23)
Girls Basketball Tryouts are from November 6-8th, at the New Gym, starting at 5:30 PM. See you there!
Hilo High Canoe Paddling Try-outs (11/3/23-11/6/23)
Canoe Paddling Try-Outs are scheduled for Monday, November 6, 2023. All paddlers make sure to bring a Physical to participate in Athletic Sports at Hilo High.

Harriet Turk Speech (11/2/23-11/6/23)
If you are interested in attending a presentation by Harriet Turk for a motivational speech about “Just Dream…And Do The Work” it will be held on November 6th, 2023 during period 2, if interested, stop by at room N-103 to get a pass.
Art Club Meeting Today (11/3/23-11/3/23)
Art club will be meeting after school today from 1:30-2:30 in Ms. Z's room (L-4). We will be planning and preparing for upcoming holiday events. Friendly reminder to all club members that we will meet every Friday after school moving forward.
HOSA Club Meeting (11/3/23-11/4/23)
Aloha HOSA club members, We will have a meeting today in Mr. Assi's room (L-2). Please attend the meeting as we prepare for the Hawaii HOSA Leadership conference tomorrow at UH Hilo, the College of Pharmacy with your selected competitive event. I hope to see you all! Mahalo
College and Career Visitations
On Friday, November 3rd, the Oregon Institute of Technology will be visiting during pd.2 at 8:15. While the United States Air Force will be visiting during pd. 6 at 12:00 pm.
On Monday, November 6th, 2023, the University of Portland will be visiting during pd. 2 at 8:30 am.
While the University of Hawaii at Manoa will be visiting during pd.6 at 12:00 pm.
Then on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023, the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) will be visiting during pd.7 at 1:15 pm.
If you are interested in any of these upcoming presentations come to Room N-103 to sign up.

Senior Mob Shot (10/30/23-11/13/23)
Seniors, it is time to get ready for our group photo "The Mob Shot" down at the new gym. It will be on Monday, Nov. 13th, during STARS class. Please create your poster no bigger than 24" wide and 18"tall, have no contraband or bad language, with your name, your passion, or your place name. Make sure your poster can fit in front of your body and not block your face or anyone else's face. Pictures will be taken promptly at the tardy bell, so make your way down at the new gym at the end of first recess. Questions? Ask Mrs. Mant, mahalo!
