Good Morning Vikings! This is your K-V-I-K-S News Bulletin for Thursday, November 9th, 2023. I’m Jordan. The periods today are 1,3,5 and 7.
Student ID Card
All students should have a Hilo High School Identification Card on their person at all times while on campus and while attending school functions. One of the most important times to have your Student ID Card is when purchasing any school meal. Not having your ID card causes unnecessary delays at the service lines. New and Replacement Student IDs are currently free of charge to all students, although replacement fees may be applied later in the school year. Head over to the main office during morning or lunch recess to obtain a Student ID card if you don't already have one.
World Kindness Day (11/7/23-11/13/23)
Monday, November 13th is World Kindness Day. To celebrate, wear Aloha Attire to promote kindness to all! If you're decked out in the aloha spirit, we'll be giving you a treat and a kind message! Remember to choose kindness everyday- and we hope to see all your colorful aloha attire!
During period 4, Elliot Hopkins from the National Federation of High School Athletics will be giving a presentation on hazing and bullying. If you're interested in going, please come to room A-16 to pick up a pass to attend.
ASVAB Testing (11/9/23-11/22/23)
All 10th-12th graders, the next ASVAB administration is on Tuesday, November 28th, 2023. The test will be administered in C-215 and will start promptly at 8:10 AM. If you are planning on joining the military post-high school, you will need to take the ASVAB.

Due to COVID-19, the number of test-takers per session has been reduced to 30.
C-215 will be closed all morning on Tuesday, November 28th, 2023 to accommodate the test.
Senior Luau Bid and Mob Shot(11/8/23-11/13/23)
Seniors attending Senior Luau will be able to pick up their bids Starting on Monday Nov. 13 through Wednesday Nov. 15 during lunch at Mr. Yamamoto's Room - R.13. No Bid? No Entry! If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Yamamoto.
Also, a reminder that Senior Mob Shot will be on Monday Nov. 13 during STARS. Please have your signs ready for our class picture. Head down to the gym during recess as we only have 20 minutes to get your picture taking completed. If you have any questions regarding senior mob shots, please contact or see Mrs. Mant, Mahalo!
Boys Basketball
Any boys interested in playing Boys Basketball for the upcoming 2023-2024 season, Try-outs will be starting on Monday November 13th, Tuesday November 14, and Wednesday November 15th from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm at Hilo High New Gym. Please make sure that your physical papers are turned in and up to date in order to participate. See you there!
Environmental Agents of Change Meeting (11/7/23-11/8/23)
Hey EAC Members! Reminder, we have a General Meeting happening on Thursday, November 9th TODAY in Ms. R’s room C-217. We will start promptly at 12:35pm. We will be going over information about upcoming events and conducting our special officers voting! You MUST be present to vote. See you at lunch!
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (11/7/23-11/10/23)
There is a new student lead club called FCA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Come to Mr. Masuyama’s room during lunch TODAY, Thursday on November 9th and join us for games, free pizza and a short message.
College and Career Visitations
TODAY, Thursday, November 9th, 2023, Universal Technical Institute (UTI) will be visiting at 8:30am during pd 1.
Meanwhile, Tuesday, November 14th, Pacific University (Oregon), will be visiting at 8:30 during pd.1 While, Washington State University will be visiting during pd.3 at 10:00

Viking Canned Food Drive(11/3/23-11/22/23)
Thanksgiving is here so now it's time for our Viking Canned Food Drive! It will be taking place from November 8th to the 22nd and will be a COMPETITION between the classes! The class that is able to get the most cans will be pieing an advisor from each of the losing classes in the face- so if you want to donate some canned goods and help your class out, drop your canned goods off in front of room A-16 starting Wednesday, November 8th.
