Good Morning Vikings! This is your K-V-I-K-S News Bulletin for Monday, November 27th, 2023. I’m Mai. The periods today are 2, STARS, 4, and 6.


Winter Ball (11/27-12/1)

If you picked up a Winter Ball Packet and would like to attend, please come to F-Building during lunch on November 28, 29, 30 and December 1st with your completed packet to pay for your admission. Payments are accepted in cash only and change is available if you do not have the exact amount. No more packets will be given out. Thank you and we hope to see you there!


Competitive College Sports (11/21/23-12/1/23)

Are you interested in learning more about playing competitive sports in college?  If you are, you're in luck!  Hilo High School is teaming up with UH Hilo's Athletic Department to provide all the information you need to get started.  Join us on Wednesday, December 6th @ 5:30pm in the Hilo High Auditorium.  Let us know if you're coming by scanning the QR code on the flyer.  All grades are welcome, and we hope to see you there!



Christmas Corner (11/20/23-11/27/23)

If you are interested in decorating your corner for Christmas Corners, stop by Room R-13 during recess or lunch to pickup a packet and SA-1 forms. Each corner “lead” must submit all necessary documents and forms to Room R-13 by Monday, November 27th. Questions about the packet? Feel free to visit R-13 for any questions or concerns, and we'll be happy to help you complete your packet. Remember, spots are limited, and locations are granted on a first come, first serve basis, so don't wait!

This is Viking Sports News.


A huge shout out to all of the athletes, managers and coaches that participated in this past fall sports season.


At this time, we would like to congratulate our state champions and other teams who have done well at the State Competitions.


As announced previously on the KVIKS News Bulletin, congratulations to Kekaihulali Halpern for placing first place at the 2023 Honolulu Marathon Cross Country Championships under the Girls Individual race.


For Air Riflery, congratulations to Kuhio Haili-Mizumoto for placing 6th Place for Individual Boys at the 2023 Hawaii Army National Guard Air Riflery Championships.


Last, but not least, congratulations to the Hilo High School Cheerleading Team for not only blowing out the competition three times in a row during the CO-ED Division, but also for placing 1ST PLACE at the BIIF Championships and also placing high at the 2023 Zippys Cheerleading Championships COED Division, placing 3rd Place.


Congratulations to all of you, and know that you all exemplify the true meaning of Viking Pride!

Viking Canned Food Drive(11/13/23-11/22/23)

Thanksgiving is here so now it's time for our Viking Canned Food Drive! It will be taking place from November 8th to the 22nd and will be a COMPETITION between the classes! The class that is able to get the most cans will be pieing an advisor from each of the losing classes in the face- so if you want to donate some canned goods and help your class out, drop your canned goods off in front of room A-16 starting Wednesday, November 8th. Happy Thanksgiving Vikings!


Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (11/3/23-12/2/23)

Calling all Hilo High Students interested in Poetry! The Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and the Honolulu Theatre for Youth are currently hosting the 2023-24 Poetry Out Loud Video Submission Contest! To participate, choose two poems from a collection of over 1,000 poems to recite for a chance to participate in the State Finals on February 25, 2024, win $200, and the opportunity to compete for the title of National Champion in Spring 2024! Videos are due on December 31st, to register, contact [email protected] or DM @hi_pol on Instagram. Don't miss out on this awesome opportunity to share your love for the arts and express yourself.


Jingle Bell Color Run (11/16/23-11/30/23)

The sophomore and junior class is hosting the 2nd annual Jingle Bell Color Run.  December 10th at 3:00 pm at the Hilo Bayfront Soccer Fields...Registration can be made online .  This event will benefit not only the sophomore and junior class but you as well.  Join in on the fun and sign up for the Jingle Bell Color Run.
