your announcements for 

Thursday, October 17th 2019.

 

 HERO POINT OPPORTUNITY:

 VETERANS DAY CARDS.

 Please come to A-16 at recess and

 lunch to pick up cards that you can make. 

Each card can be turned in for

 5 HERO points and you can make a total of

 4 cards to earn a maximum of 20 points. 

All cards are DUE on October 30 back to

 A-16 at recess and lunch. 


FAFSA Completion Event

 Hey, Seniors!

 Welcome back from October Break!

 Have you created your FSA IDs yet?

 Have your parents created theirs?

 What about your FAFSA? 

How many of you have completed it already? 

If you have not yet, 

don't worry - we're having a FAFSA

 completion event today 

at Hilo High School from 5-7pm.

 If you are interested in attending,

 please see Mrs. Frias as soon as possible to sign up. 


Class of 2022 T-Shirt Pre-Orders

 Calling all Sophomores.

 We will be collecting pre-orders

 for your class t-shirts

 until Friday, October 18 in

 Mrs. Araki's room C209 at lunch recess.

 Sizes small to large will be $10 and 2XL is $11.

 Buy a shirt and show your class pride!


National Unity Day

 Aloha Vikings! 

In the month of October,

 we will be celebrating 

National Unity Day and 

show our desire to prevent bullying.

 Let’s all unite by participating in these activities. 


 On October 23rd, 

National Unity Day, 

we will be sign waving from 7:20am - 8:00am on

 Wainuenue Ave along side Hilo High School.

 We will be waving the signs we made on the 16th.

 Come and show your Unity. 


Also on October 23rd, 

you have 2 opportunities to earn HERO points.

 First, wear our VIKING colors or

 orange and come to the front of the 

auditorium during lunch to earn 10 points.

 Also in front of the auditorium,

 make a pledge on how to prevent bullying and

 earn 10 points. 

We hope to see you all participate!

Kupu's Youth Conservation Corps Summer Program

Hey, Viks! 

Do you love being outdoors in

 the natural setting of our beautiful island?

 Does conservation and sustainability matter to you?

 Want to get paid while doing what you love? 

Kupu's Youth Conservation Corps 

Summer Program would be perfect for you!

 This paid internship program is open to

 any student who will be 17 years old or

 older before June of 2020.

 The program runs for 7 weeks from 

June 8th to July 24th. 

You would be part of a team,

 receiving monetary stipends, 

CPR/First Aid certifications,

 and a scholarship of $1,200 while camping out and

 working in nature for the summer!

 more information. 

Applications are available online and 

are due by February 28th.

 Listen up, Seniors...this

 announcement is for you.

 Information about several new scholarships is

 now available in A-1. 

Scholarships such as the

Horatio Alger Scholarship, 

Hawaii Self Storage Scholarship, 

and many more!

Please come check out the Scholarship Binder to

 see which ones might apply to you. 

If you never apply, you will never receive anything!

 need help applying.


HILO HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOCCER 

 There is voluntary conditioning

 throughout the week, so please

 visit the Hilo High Website for more information, or

 You must have a current physical to participate.

 You may pick up a physical form from

 the main office or from the trainers office.


College and Career Fair Openings

 Good morning, Vikings! 

We still have space on our two 

upcoming field trips. 

On Thursday, October 24th, 

we will be attending the Construction Career Day.

 On Friday, October 25th, 

we will be attending the College Fair.

 Please see Ms. Lawrence or Mrs. Frias in A-1 to

 pick up the field trip forms. 

Completed forms signed by teachers and parents,

 must be submitted by

 Monday, October 21st. 

Space is limited so bring your forms ASAP.

Hilo High Amnesty International Club

If you are interested in human

 rights or taking a stand on important issue,

 then you should join 

Hilo High's Amnesty International Club. 

It will be an easy way to spread awareness and

 make your voice heard.

 If you are interested, come to R-21,

 Ms. Crowl's room on Monday, on October 21.

 Stop by during lunch recess to learn more.

Hilo High School Swim Team:

 Anyone interested in joining the

 Hilo High Swim team, there will be

 a meeting on October 17, 2019

 during lunch at the pool bleachers. 


Japan Club Meeting

 Ohaiyogozaimasu japan club members 

 There will be a meeting this Friday

 at Shehata senseis room during lunch.

 We will be giving out forms for upcoming

 events so please stop by to pick them up.
