Hilo Medical Center is having a vaccination clinic on April 24, 2021 at Edith Kanakaole Stadium. Students who are 16 years of age or older can sign up to get the vaccine! Check out a PSA of student athletes from all over the Big Island to hear more!

The Hawaii State Department of Education announced today the continuation of enrichment and distance learning through May 28, the last day of the 2019-20 school year. All HIDOE employees continue to work remotely with the exception of those who are considered essential and must perform their duties at a campus or office.

Traditional commencement ceremonies at public and charter schools will be replaced with alternative celebrations for the class of 2020 due to safety concerns and social distancing guidance. Schools will honor their seniors through different models of celebrations, which will be announced next week.

During the extended Spring Break period, five schools on Hawaii Island will be providing a grab-and-go breakfast and lunch to children who are 18 years or younger.

Effective Thursday, March 19, the Hawaii State Department of Education (HIDOE) will close its offices and schools.

All Hawaii Department of Education Schools are to extend their spring breaks until March 27th, 2020. Read this article to learn more.

The Department will use the additional time to plan for implementation of social distancing within the school setting, arrange for professional development to support modified operations, and thoroughly clean schools.

Attention athletes, as of 3/13/2020, any BIIF related event is cancelled or postponed until further notice. This includes practices and matches. Check back here as more information is released. This is in accordance to a similar decision from the HHSAA to suspend all athletic activities statewide due to the rising threat of the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic.

Effective Monday, March 16, 2020, all interscholastic competition will be suspended indefinitely based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat.

HIDOE is canceling all school and Department-related travel to the U.S. mainland and international destinations until the end of the 2019-2020 school year, effective March 12.
