PTP Help for the Class of 2021

We will be having on-campus PTP helpers starting March 31, 2021 during school hours. You are welcome to attend every day until you are finished with your Personal Transition Plan. You may virtually attend all of your classes while you are in the Hub, and work on your PTP during your breaks, or during periods that you do not have classes.

Zonta Club of Hilo Scholarship

Young Women in Public Affairs Award. The Awards Zonta Club of Hilo provides $1000 awards recipients who later may be selected for a district/region award of US$1,500. Ten international recipients are selected from the district/region recipients to receive additional awards of US$5,000 each

Bezos Scholars Program (19-20)

Listen up, Juniors! This Leadership/Scholarship program is just for you! The Bezos Scholars Program is a year-long leadership program that amplifies youth voice and action. Accepted scholars are invited to attend an all-expenses paid trip to the Aspen Ideas Festival during the summer after Junior Year.

University of Hawaii at Manoa Scholarship Workshop (10/30/2019)

Hey, Seniors! Planning to attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa? Interested in learning about some scholarships specific to us in Hawaii? Need some time to work on scholarship applications? Come sign up for a scholarship workshop scheduled for Wednesday, October 30th during pd 4. Representatives from UH Manoa will be here to share some scholarship information, as well as give you some time to work on scholarship apps online. See Mrs. Frias in A-1 to pick up a pass.

Free Hawaiian Studies 100 College Class (SY 19-20 2nd Semester)

Attention ALL Vikings! Are you interested in starting to earn College Credits while you are still in high school? Want to earn those college credits FOR FREE?
You're in luck! Hilo High School and Hawaii Community College are offering an AFTER SCHOOL Hawaiian Studies 100 Class during 2nd semester of this school year. Space is limited, so please see Mrs. Frias in A-1 as soon as possible if you are interested.

Harriet Bouslog Labor and Hilo Women's Club Scholarships

The Harriet Bouslog Labor Scholarship - $2,000 - open to students who are related to a current, retired, or deceased member of ILWU Local 142, planning to enroll in one of the UH System schools.

The Hilo Women's Club Scholarship - $1,000 - open to students graduating from an East Hawaii High School, with a GPA of 3.0 and higher, planning to attend UH Hilo or Hawaii Community College next year.

Hawaii Saddle Club, KEM Scholarship, and more Scholarships Now Available!

There are several new scholarships available in A-1. Come by to check them out and apply!

Hawaii Saddle Club - several scholarships available to seniors from Hawaii Island with ranching or rodeo experience.

KEM Scholarship - $1,000 scholarship open to Hilo High School Seniors planning to pursue a degree in Science beginning Fall 2020.

Mufi Hannemann Leadership Scholarship - open to students of Samoan ancestry with academic and leadership potential.

The Better Business Bureau Students of Integrity Scholarships - Open to Juniors and Seniors. $5,000 award for the winning video submission, and several $2,000 awards for winning essay submissions. Detailed application information can be found online.

YMCA COLLEGE CAMP

YMCA College Camp from May 30th-June 5th on Oahu. It is an all-expense paid for Accepted Students. Application information can be picked up in A-1 or found online at Athertonymca.org . Please see Mrs. Frias if you have any questions!

Fukunaga Scholarship (19-20)

The Fukunaga Scholarship is open to any graduating senior planning to attend a 4-year college or university next Fall and major in an area of Business. This scholarship could be worth $5,000 every year of college for a total of $20,000! Come to A-1 for more information.

Seniors! if you are planning to attend UH Manoa or UH Hilo, The family of G and M Nishiyama and N and J Haraguchi would like to award two $5,000 scholarships to qualified students. Come to A-1 for applications and their are due on April 1st.

AP Fee Collection due on January 31st, 2020

Friday is the last day to pay for AP tests. See Ms. Taniguchi in B-35 to pay for your tests.

AP fees is as follows:
Non-free/reduced eligible: $44 per test
Free/reduced eligible (with a turned in waiver form): $12 per test

U.S Army Visitation

The United States Army will be visiting us on Thursday, March 12, 2020 @9:55am during Pd. 3. Come to Room A-1 to sign up and receive a pass to attend their presentation. See you then!

Seniors! Don't Know what you might do after high school? If you plan to go to college, Hawaii Community College is coming to help with another application session. They will be coming at February 21st, during the second period. Go to Mrs. Frias room to pick up a pass.

ASVAB Test (December 4th, 2019)

To all Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors, we will be having our second ASVAB test of the year on Wednesday, December 4th, 2019. The ASVAB test is a must take for anyone interested in joining the military. To sign up or to get more information, see Ms. Taniguchi in A-16 during morning or lunch recess. Spots are limited.

Career Fair (11/14/2019)

We will be attending the Career Fair on Thursday, November 14th. You'll have the chance to speak directly with professionals in different careers, who represent all 6 career pathways. We will need to miss all of pd 1 and 1st recess on November 14th. We will return to school a few minutes tardy to pd 3. Forms can be picked up from Ms. Lawrence or Ms. Frias in A-1. Signed forms are due back to A-1 by Nov 12th. Space is limited to 2 buses - return your forms ASAP.

Hawaii Community College Application Session (11/05/2019)

Good morning, Seniors! Do you still need to apply to college? Did you miss the first Hawaii Community College application session last month? Well, you're in luck! Hawaii Community College will be back to conduct another application session with us on Tuesday, November 5th. Please see Mrs. Frias in A-1 to sign up for the session and pick up a pass. Remember, the application is FREE, and non-binding! Hope to see you there!

College Fair Field Trip Reminders (10/25/2019)

Students attending the College Fair on Friday, 10/25 - you will be missing lunch on Friday. Please plan accordingly by eating Wiki, or by bringing a home lunch with you that day. You will all report to your pd 4 classes as usual. An announcement will be made to excuse you at 10:30am. Buses will leave Hilo High at 10:45am. We will return to pd 6 around 12:15pm.

Reality Fair Schedule (10/24/2019)

There will be 3 sessions. Each senior will attend 1 session, depending on the period they have 12th grade English. Each of you will receive a pass indicating the session and time. Please head straight down to the New Gym at the indicated time.

FAFSA Completion Workshop (10/17/19)

Hey, Seniors! Welcome back from October Break! Have you created your FSA IDs yet? Have your parents created theirs? What about your FAFSA? How many of you have completed it already? If you have not yet, don't worry - we're having a FAFSA completion event this Thursday, October 17th at Hilo High School from 5-7pm.
