Rent & Mortgage Assistance

Aloha kākou,

Good news for Hawaiʻi County residents who have lost income due to the pandemic. The Rent & Mortgage Assistance Program was recently expandedwith two notable improvements:
  • The max award amount has been raised to $2,000/month - meaning a household that with a reduction in income from March-December could qualify for up to $20,000
  • The income limit was raised to 140% AMI (Area Median Income). There's a table in the graphics with the dollar amounts.
These are grants, not loans, and do not have to be paid back.  Individuals who did not meet the income requirement before should check their eligibility again. Applicants may apply at hopeserviceshawaii.org/rmap or at one of the sites listed in the graphics.
