The boys basketball game versus Pahoa High school tonight has been postponed for Monday, January 31st, 2022. As a reminder, KVIKS Media will be broadcasting the wrestling tournament happening this Saturday, January 15th at 9 am. Watch online at hilohigh.org/livesports. Also, Girls and Boys Soccer will be competing against Kamehameha Schools Hawaii this Friday, January 14, 2022. Good luck Vikings!
Do you live in Honomu, Houselots or Kaumana? Bus riders on routes TR18, TR22, TR25 and TR26 should be aware that bus service has been suspended immediately due to bus driver shortages. Alternate transportation arrangements will need to be made. Families may contact the school office at (808) 313-5500, or visit the Hilo High School Website for the latest routing information and options for refunds or mileage reimbursement.
Also, congratulations to senior Enjl Himoya for being selected to participate in the United States Senate Youth Program! Enjl was one of two students selected out of the whole state to participate. He will be receiving a $10,000 college scholarship for undergraduate study, and will be able to attend online meetings and briefings with senators, the president, and more! Congratulations Enjl, way to make our Hilo community proud!

Hilo Blood Drive
This year, Blood Bank of Hawaii has partnered with Hawaii Foodbank to save lives by donating blood and end hunger by feeding people in need in our community. The Blood Bank of Hawaii is visiting Hilo for a Blood Drive on January 18, 19, & 20. We are welcoming students over the age of 16, teachers, and staff to participate as volunteers to donate blood. There will be only one donation site located at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1373 Kilauea Avenue. No walk-ins will be allowed. Schedule an appointment by calling (808) 848-4770 or visiting Blood Bank of Hawaii website at www.bbh.org. Please provide the Hilo High School Lifesaver Club group code (383) when you arrive for your appointment. Visit our school website for more information. One donation of blood can save 3 lives in need as well as feed the hungry. We hope you consider donating.
Children’s Miracle Network Fundraiser
More than 10 million kids enter a children’s hospital like Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children across North America every year. HHS Key Club will be holding a Children's Miracle Network Fundraiser from Tuesday, January 18th to Friday, January 21st. Donate $1 in front of Ma's Room (A-16) to change a child's life. Donators will earn 10 HERO points and the chance to sign their name on a CMN hot air balloon.
Hilo High Super Smash Ultimate and League of Legends eSports Team
What!? You’ve never heard of eSports? Did you know that there are plenty of scholarships available for eSports participants? Free money from playing video games? Unheard of! Hilo High School, in partnership with the HHSAA is participating in Super Smash Bros and League of Legends eSports! To join a team please check out the Hilo High School website at hilohigh.org for the Google Form application and information on joining eSports. The final deadline is this Friday, January 14, 2022. Let’s get gaming!

HCC & FAFSA Application Sessions
Aloha Seniors! Are you interested in applying to our Hawaii Community College in Hilo? Through HCC, you can earn 2-year Associates Degrees in so many different trades, like Carpentry, Electrical Installation, Agriculture, Auto Mechanics, Culinary Arts, Fire Science, and so much more! Mrs. Frias will be holding HCC application sessions on Thursday, Jan 27 during pd 3 and 5, as well as FAFSA completion workshops on Friday, Jan 28 during pds 2 and 4. Please go to the LRC to sign up for both sessions. Many of you could qualify for Financial Aid and most of your college tuition could be FREE! We hope to see you there!
