Thank you Keona, I’m Trenton, and I will be your host today. This month is Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month. In honor of this, KVIKS will have introductions in various asian-pacific languages.

 

Attention all KVIKS Media members, our last general meeting is today, in C-215 during lunch. Please be prompt!

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! We asked students to personally thank a teacher, here’s what they said.

Hey Seniors! Graduation is in a few weeks! If you missed any senior song practice, today is the last day to make them up. You have 5 minutes to get to the pool, and after 5 minutes it will not count. The senior song practice makeups is located at the pool during lunch recess.  

 

Host: Aloha Viking Athletes! We are thrilled to announce that the Hilo High Athletic Awards will be held at the pool on Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 12 PM to 4 PM. There will be an awards ceremony, food, and the opportunity to swim at the event. Because this is a celebration for athletes only, athletes will not be able to bring guests. If you plan to attend, fill out the Google Form that was emailed to you all from KVIKS Media with the subject: Hilo High School Athletic Awards. Again, this event is exclusively for athletes who participated in a sport this school year only.

 

This weekend is the opening for the PALC Spring Musical Footloose! Here’s how to watch.

It’s here! Footloose the musical! Show days are May 6th, 7th, and 8th, 2022.  Show starts at 7:30 pm on Friday May 6 and Saturday May 7, and on Sunday, May 8 a matinee at 2:30 pm. Adult tickets are $10, student, senior, and children tickets are $5.  Come to the auditorium to purchase tickets, pay there with cash only.  You can also contact [email protected] to reserve tickets, pay at the door.

 

Next week Thursday is the Hilo High Spring Recital, here is what to expect, and the theme of the concert.

Hilo High School Spring Music Concert is on May 12th, 2022 at 6:00 at the Hilo High Auditorium. Student musicians are to arrive at 5:00 PM. Guitar, Chorus, and Orchestra will perform ocean themed music. The event will also be live streamed on KVIKS Media at hilohigh.org/live

Please attend the informational meeting with coaches this Thursday May 5 at 230pm near the X-Building locker rooms. Important information regarding training dates/times will be provided at the meeting.

 

Have you ever driven past the Pohakuloa Training Center at the top of Saddle Road, and wondered what goes on there? You're in luck!  We are able to take 40 students in grades 9-11 on a field trip on Thursday, May 12th.  We will be missing the whole day, and you must bring your own brown bag lunch.  We will return to school by the end of the day so you can still catch the bus home if you need to.  Please see Ms. Lawrence in the LRC to sign up and pick up a field trip permission form.  Forms must be signed and returned ASAP, and only the first 40 students will be allowed to attend.  Please see Ms. Frias if you have any questions.

Hey class of 2024! This week Thursday and Friday are your sophomore days. As the year comes to the end we want to make your sophomore days memorable. On Thursday is Mauka to Makai day. Wear your mountain or beach attire. Friday will be class colors so wear black or blue to represent your phoenix pride. Join us both days at lunch in the front of the auditorium for a lunch time rally with games and prizes. Weather pending of course! –

Japanese Class Leadership Group is going to create a short video explaining about the sister-city relationship with Oshima Island in Tokyo. Richard and Jasmine will be the lead to create a script, record, and edit.

The Hero Store is back and open for in-person shopping! The Hero Store is located in B-35 and you can use your Hero points to buy snacks, school supplies, and a lot of other fun things.  Your ID is required for purchase. We will be open during most lunch recesses. You will also be able to check how many points you have on your card.
