PRE-ROLL: NONE

HOST:

Aloha Vikings! This is your K-V-I-K-S News Bulletin, I’m Reana, and here are your announcements for Wednesday, August 10, 2022. The periods for today are 2-4-6.

Reminder to all students:

Due to different release times and supervision concerns between Hilo High School and Hilo Intermediate School, Hilo High students are not allowed to be on Hilo Intermediate School's campus at any time before, during, or after school, unless explicitly allowed by their administration. Hilo Intermediate students should also not be on the Hilo High School campus before, during, or after school.

Parents/Guardians who are doing student pickup after school are asked to arrive on campus 5-10 minutes after student release times, to allow buses to leave and reduce congestion in our parking lot.

Again, as a reminder, Hilo High School students are not allowed to be on the Hilo Intermediate School campus at any time before, during, or after school.

Slide 1: Hello Vikings! This past summer, four representatives from our Hilo High AVID program traveled to Vancouver Washington for the annual National Student Safety Program (NSSP) conference, where we competed against other schools in presentations on what our school has done to raise awareness about traffic safety.

Slide 2: For this, we are excited to announce that we earned the silver award, recognizing the hard work of our student leaders and teachers in raising the importance of traffic safety!

In addition, we also entered one student and one advisor for the Student of the Year and Advisor of the Year Awards.

Slide 3: We are proud to announce that out of all the national competitors, Kira Corpuz-Matias won the National Student of the Year Award for her hard work and dedication to ensuring our school and community are educated and safe.

Slide 4: Furthermore, we are equally proud of Charlene Masuhara for winning the National Advisor of the Year Award for her constant dedication to our school and students over her many years of service.

Recording of Speaker: Congratulations to Kira and Ma for your invaluable service to our schools and for earning these prestigious awards!
