With May Day right around the corner, here is how you can be nominated!

Aloha kākou! ʻO wau ʻo Alohalani! a ʻo wau ʻo Kamaha`o!
We are here to talk to you about this yearʻs May Day Hōʻike. Our May Day Hōʻike will be on Friday, May 12th, 2023, in our Hilo High School Gymnasium! Once again we will have 2 shows, one during the day for only the Hilo High students, staff and faculty and one in the evening which will be open to the public. This yearʻs theme is Like nō i ka laʻi o Hanakahi, which literally means: All the same in the calm of Hanakahi and tells us that there is unity and we are all as one.
Before we can move forward with our May Day planning, we are asking for YOUR help. Today, in your STARS advisory class, your class will be nominating 2 kāne (boys) and 2 wahine (girls) from your grade level that you all feel would best represent the Viking and Aloha spirit. Please keep in mind that these nominees must be willing to learn and perform a hula in front of the entire school.
So, please work together in your STARS advisory and submit those names to your teacher. Mahalo nui loa no ke kōkua! I lā maikaʻi! A hui hou!
Hero Store
Report Cards will be distributed on Tuesday, January 10, in Period 1. Bring your report card to the Hero Store (B35) during morning recess on Tuesday January 10 and collect some Hero points! You will receive 10 points just for bringing it in to show us. You'll receive an additional 10 points if you don't have any D's or F's, and you could receive an additional 10 points if you have all A's. Looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday at morning recess!
Do you wanna participate in a tournament that requires you to use your strategic skills? If so, this tournament for you!
[VIDEO] Table Top Club
The Table Top Club is looking for players to participate in a tentative chess tournament. If interested or if you have any questions, please see Mr. Yamanaka in room B-41. Sign ups will be open until January 18.
Boys and Girls Judo
This is a reminder that the Hilo High School Boys and Girls Judo Pre-Season Voluntary Conditioning Practice begins TODAY, January 9th. Practices will be held from 4:00 PM to 5:15 PM on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays. Meet in the wrestling/judo practice room located upstairs of the new gym. Parental Consent and Current Physicals are required to participate. If you missed the sign ups, no problem! Come by and sign up during practice times. See you there!

Tennis Try-Outs
Tennis try-outs for boys and girls will be on February 6 to 8 at the tennis courts across the street. In order to try out a physical needs to be done along with the forms which are on our school website. New as well as returning players are gonna come out, please sign up with coach Leanne in F-Bldg.
