HOST: Aloha Vikings! This is your K-V-I-K-S News Bulletin. I’m Caitlin, and today’s date is Thursday, January 26th, 2023. The periods are 1-3-5-7

Hey Viking, the following games are canceled this week. 

On Thursday, January 26 the JV Softball vs. Kamehameha

On Saturday, January 28 the JV Softball vs. Honokaa and the JV Baseball vs. Keaau, are all canceled. 

Also if you missed the Guitar Recital last night you can go watch it on the Hilo High School Youtube channel.

Track and Field

Track and Field will be starting an official mandatory tryout on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.


Meet at the pool nearest to the road, at 3:00PM. (all paperwork should be complete of course)

Attend meetings on that day even if paperwork is not complete.

All students intending to try out for Track and Field but are varsity in  

winter sports still in season should report to track tryouts immediately

after that sport is completed.

Commencement Song Practice

Hey, Seniors - listen up!  Beginning January 30th, your song practices will begin right after period 2 EVERY MONDAY.  As soon as period 2 is over, report straight to the Pool and sit in your assigned seat on the bleachers.  Attendance will be taken, and this is how you will earn your tickets.  Tardiness or sitting in the wrong seat will be counted as an absence.  Please see Mrs. Arbles if you have any questions.

Boys Volleyball Conditioning

Boys Volleyball Conditioning will be TODAY, January 26 and Friday January 27 from 5:30pm - 7:00pm.  You must have a current physical in order to participate.  Mahalo!

Hall of Fame

Hey seniors! It is time to nominate your classmates for the yearbook's Hall of Fame! Who is Mr. or Miss Aloha? Who is the best athlete? Please look on our website for the google link to fill out the form.   Please vote by February 3, 2023. Mahalo from the yearbook crew!


Aloha Vikings! Did you pre-order your 2022-2023 yearbook? If you want to make sure that you get one, please go to the office pay window during recess or lunch with $50 cash. Auntie Allison will give you a receipt and you will receive one in May, when they come in. If you don't buy one by this Monday 30th, you may be able to purchase one when they come in-if we don't sell out. Seniors will have first priority, then juniors, then sophomores, then freshmen, then teachers and staff.  Don't wait or hesitate! Aloha, Mrs. Mant.

[SPOT] Junior Prom

Attention Juniors!

This is your last week to pay for your bids for Junior Prom. Payments will be collected outside of Mr. Yamamotoʻs room, R13 during LUNCH ONLY. The last day to submit your permission forms and money is THIS Friday, January 27, 2023! If you have any questions, please see your prom Advisor, Kumu Kaipo in Rm. R21 or Mr. Yamamoto in Rm. R13 during non-instructional times.

Hey Seniors! Senior prom payment collection will be from today till February 3, 2023 during lunch in front of room A-16. If you are bringing guests, you will need to turn in your and your guest’s payment at the same time. You will also need to bring your ID! Thank you!

[VIDEO] Homecoming Hoolaulea

Hey Vikings! Our homecoming is coming up! To finish off our homecoming week, we will be having our homecoming Hoolaulea, on Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 4 pm to 8 pm, where we are gonna have a variety of vendors, live entertainment, and activity booths! If you want to be a vendor at our marketplace, or want to showcase your talent that night, or have an activity booth, you can register using the link on your screen or scan the QR code to register. Please register by Friday, January 27, 2023, at 3pm. Thank you! 

Water Polo Season

Exciting opportunity for student athletes: Water Polo season is here! February, March, and April 2023. All students who are interested please sign up at the main office this week. Everyone is welcome to learn this up and coming sport that could lead to opportunities and college scholarships.

This week in Viking athletics.

On Wednesday, January 25th

The girls soccer team will compete in finals @ HPA starting at 3pm.   

Then the JV Baseball will be playing @ Waiakea starting at 3pm.

On Thursday, January 26

The boys soccer @ Parker starting 3pm.

Then the boys basketball will compete @ Waiakea starting 5pm.

On Friday January 27th

The Swimming/Diving Prelims will be held @ Kamehameha. 

Lastly, on Saturday January 28th

The Swimming/Diving BIIF Finals will be held @ Kamehameha.

The Wrestling team will compete at @ Kealakehe starting 10am.

And the JV Baseball @ Keaau starting 1pm.
