The winners of Hilo High Chess Tournament are 2nd place Zhenson Mansanas Lum-Ho and our champion for 2023 is Seth Kahoalii-Esperanza. Congratulations to these two!

Veterinary Science Camp

Calling all future veterinarians! 4-H is hosting an animal and veterinary science camp this summer from June 19th to the 23rd. Interested applicants should email 4-H at [email protected] or see Mr. Paopao at the school garden behind the cafeteria for more information. This popular program will fill up FAST!  Plan to sign up TODAY!


May Day Court Support

Aloha, Calling all May Day Court Support! Those who have agreed to be this yearʻs May Day chanter, kahili bearers, conch shell blowers and pūloʻuloʻu. We are having a quick but mandatory meeting tomorrow, April 25, during MORNING RECESS in K101 (Kumu ʻAwaʻs room). Please be on time and in attendance. We will be going over your kuleana for this yearʻs May Day. Again, MANDATORY meeting on Tuesday, April 25th, in K101 during MORNING RECESS. Mahalo nui loa!


PTP

Hey, Juniors!  Please remember that your PTP is due by May 12th, 2023 in Google Classroom.  It must be checked for quality and completion by Mrs. Frias in order to receive a Satisfactory grade and credit.  If you are hoping to modify your schedule so you can work during senior year, your PTP must be complete before your modified schedule will be approved.  Use your STARS time wisely, and come to work on it during lunches at N-103.  Please see Mrs. Frias if you have any questions.


Youth Commission

Hey, Vikings!  Are you ready to be a voice for the youth in our community?  The County of Hawaii is currently accepting applications from students who are interested in serving on the Hawaii Island Youth Commission.  If you are selected to serve on the Youth Commission, you will get a chance to learn about Local Government, participate in Community Service Projects, and gain valuable Leadership Experience, while working directly with our local community and governmental leaders.  See Mrs. Frias in N-103 to learn how to apply.  Applications are open until April 30th.  


Yearbook

Aloha Vikings! The yearbook crew want to invite you to pick up your 2023 yearbook! Our distribution week will be during lunchtime May 1-5. Seniors are on Monday, May 1st, Juniors Tuesday May 2nd, Sophomores Wednesday May 3rd, Freshmen Thursday May 4th, and Friday May 5th all students can come to L-5, upstairs in Mrs. Mant's room. Bring your I.D. and/or receipt if you pre-paid for your book. If you did not pre-pay, you can buy one for $50 cash on your classes' day, until we are sold out. Mahalo!

Other Announcements


Summer Program

Summer school courses at Hilo High School are now open for registration.  The course list and registration forms are available on the HHS website.  Summer registration forms are due May 19. 


Free bus transportation is available to all summer students.  Families need to fill out and turn in a bus application to the HHS main office by May 5.

Occupational Therapy Internship

Aloha, Juniors and Seniors!  Have you ever thought about becoming an Occupational Therapist?  Occupational Therapists work with people who have injuries, illnesses, or disabilities.  They help people to recover, improve, and maintain skills needed for daily living and working.  This summer, the Hilo-Waiakea Complex is hosting a PAID Occupational Therapy Internship.  Applications are open now and due soon by April 21st.  Please see Mrs. Frias in N-103 for the application information if you are interested.


Scholarships

Hey, Seniors!  There are still new scholarships coming into the Career and College Office - please stop in to see Mrs. Frias and pick up any scholarship applications you might qualify for.  Deadlines are coming fast, so swing by soon to check it out!


Official Final Transcript

Hey Class of 2023 Seniors!  If your post high school plans require your final transcript, please stop by the Registrar's Office to pick up a request form.  Upon turning it in, please make sure your parent or guardian has signed it if you are under age 18.

Keep in mind that counselors are not in during the summer, so requests will be sent out by the Registrar's Office.  Final Transcripts will be processed during the week of June 12th. 


Youth Membership Month

Hey Vikings!  It's Youth Membership Month, and the Student Credit Union has an exciting promotion with Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union.
