09/14/2023 KVIKS News Bulletin

PRE-ROLL: My name is Mr. Trimble, and I am one of the Vice Principals here at Hilo High School. I wanted to take a moment and remind you about some rules in our School Handbook, and explain to you some changes we have made for this school year.

Tardy and Attendance Restriction Policy (T.A.R.P.)

From the third week of school, unexcused tardies and unexcused absences will count towards TARP. ALL students are responsible for ensuring they are on-time to class and attending school daily. Once a student accumulates 5 tardies or absences in a class during a semester, they must repay any additional tardy or absence with a 30 minute “detention”. Students who fail to make up their time owed will be placed on “restriction” and unable to participate in select student activities, student-athletes will have their coaches notified, and any student owing time may be called in to serve detention during lunch, which will start happening on Tuesdays and Thursdays this week.  Those students that must serve detention to make up time due to unexcused absences or tardies will receive a pass to report to the detention room starting on Thursday.

Thank you vikings and have a great homecoming week!
