WHATS NEW VIKINGS?


Hawaii State Science & Engineering Fair Winners (2/21/24-2/23/24)

Congratulations to Sky Bardwell-Jones, Austyn Bugado, Serena Lam, Noor Shehata, Kathryn Son, and "Erin" Wagner for participating in the Hawaii District Science & Engineering Fair this past weekend.  All participants placed either in first or second place for Best in their respective Categories.  They also won numerous other awards, including free travels awards to the Hawaii State Science & Engineering Fair for Austyn, Sarina, and Noor.  Austyn Bugado also qualified for the International Science & Engineering Fair to be held in Los Angeles, California in May!


Senior Prom Bid Pick & Seat Selection (2/20/24-2/28/24)

Good Morning Seniors! If you are attending senior prom next Saturday on March 1st, you can begin to choose your seats and pick up your bid starting Today, Wednesday Feb 21st till Wednesday Feb 28th outside of Mr. Yamamotoʻs Room, R-13 during lunch only.


Hawaii Youth Conservation Corp (2/21/24-2/23/24)

Good morning, Juniors and Seniors - this announcement is for you! If you will be 17 years old by June 3rd 2024, you are eligible to serve as a Hawaii Youth Conservation Corps Team Member this summer. The program will run from June 3 - July 21 on our Big Island of Hawaii. If you are selected to be a Team Member, you will be getting paid to camp and work on different conservation projects across our island. Interested in learning more? Come to N-103 to sign up for a presentation this Friday, February 23rd at 9:00am during pd 2. Pick up a pass from Ms. Lawrence or Ms. Frias and get your pd 2 teacher's permission to attend. Hope to see you there!


Senior Service Project (2/20/24-2/29/24)

Attention seniors! Don't miss out on the chance to give back to our Hilo Community through our Senior Service Project for the Merrie Monarch Festival. Grab a permission form from Mr. Yamamoto (R-13) or Mr. Rosas (B-35) and return it by Thursday, February 29, 2024. It's a must-attend event, and turning in your form ensures your seat on the bus. US Military Branches Information (2/20/24-2/23/24)

Aloha, Vikings! This week, the following United States Military Branches will be on campus during lunch to talk stories and share information with anyone who is interested. Today, Wednesday, February 21st, the Navy.

Friday, February 23rd, the Marines.

If you are interested, stop by at their table in front of B-bldg during lunch to ask questions and maybe earn some free giveaways!


Construction Career Field Trip (2/20/24-2/21/24)

This announcement is for all students who submitted your field trip form to attend the Construction Career Day this Thursday, February 22nd.  We are boarding the buses at the Hilo High Bus Ramp at 8:00am.  In order to attend the field trip, you must adhere to the following guidelines:


Wear shirts with sleeves - no tank tops

Wear long pants or jeans WITH NO RIPS OR HOLES.

Wear covered shoes - NOT Crocs, slippers or sandals

Long hair must be tied back and out of the way

Do not wear jewelry


All of these dress requirements are for your safety.  If you show up at the bus without these requirements met, you will be required to stay back. Also, personal bags and cell phones are not allowed.  School bags can be checked in at Ms. Moore's Office B-35 between 7:30 and 8:00am. When we get there, you will be provided a small bag with your safety equipment that is yours to keep.  Lunch will also be provided to us before we return to school.  We are looking forward to this experience, and we hope you are too!  Please see Mrs. Frias in N-103 if you have any questions.

CONGRATULATIONS MRS. NOLAN (2/20 - 2/21, 2024)

We would like to congratulate our very own Mrs. Nolan for earning her National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification. This certification recognizes educators who have reached the highest standards for teaching. Mrs. Nolan was one of TWO teachers on our Island who was recognized by the Department of Education and Governor Josh Green. We are so proud to have a new N–ational Board Certified Teacher! In honor of Mrs. Nolan, don’t forget to check your email!
