This Week in Viking Athletics (3/5 - 3/6/2024)

Today, Boys Volleyball vs Kealakehe, JV at 5 PM with Varsity to follow. On Friday, Boys Volleyball vs Keaau, JV at 5 PM with Varsity to follow. On Saturday, Water Polo will be HERE at the swimming pool, the first game is versus Kamehameha Schools Hawaii at 9 AM, and versus Kealakehe at 2:30pm.

 

Financial Reality Fair (3/4/24-3/6/24)

HEY SENIORS! Remember the permission forms you got LAST WEEK to go to the FINANCIAL REALITY FAIR? Well, remember to turn them in TODAY, March 6th so you can go to our super fun Reality Fair tomorrow March 7th! This will be an interactive event at our new gym where you can play games, talk to professionals about managing money, AND win prizes up to $100. Make sure to turn your form in to room A-16 so you don't miss out on this valuable event!


WHAT'S NEW VIKINGS?


Quarter 4 Bus Passes (3/5/24-3/15/24)

The application window for Quarter 4 bus passes is now open until the end of April. If you would like to ride for the fourth quarter, starting March 25th, you can submit your application online or pickup and return a paper copy at the main office. Those of you who have a Quarter 3 bus pass may still ride until Spring Break, or March 15th. If you have any questions, please stop by the office.


Senior Service Awards (2/6/24-3/25/24)

Aloha Seniors! It is getting near the graduation season and we want you to reap all the hard work you've done throughout your high school career! With Senior Service Awards, this allows you to gain recognition for all the service you've done for the school and community. Scan the QR code if you are interested in applying for these awards.  The last day to complete this interest form is on April 5th, 2024 so don't pass up on this amazing opportunity to be recognized for your service!


Motivational Speak Bobby Petrocelli (3/6/24-3/7/24)

Hey Vikings! Have you heard about Bobby Petrocelli, a motivational speaker? Come by at the auditorium during Period 4 on March 11th to hear about Bobby Petrocelli here to talk about drunk driving and traffic safety. Listen to his incredible story on how he survived a tragic car accident. Please encourage your Period 4 teacher and class to come to the speech. Have a great day!


Japan Club Members (3/6/24-3/8/24)

Debate Districts for Hawai’i Island (3/4/24-3/6/24)

Last Wednesday, February 28th, 6 Hilo High teams competed in the Debate Districts for Hawai'i Island. The students debated on the following resolution: “Resolved: The United States federal government should repeal Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act."  Congratulations to the teams of Isis Alvarez-Murillo and Keoni Roosevelt Randolph and Mayo Nakajima and Senaka Reddy, who qualified for the State Tournament on Oahu on April 5th and 6th. They will be debating teams from all over the islands on the resolution: "Resolved: The United Nations should abolish permanent membership on its Security Council."
