Aloha parents and students,
If your student(s) will be riding the bus this school year, the application window for a first quarter bus pass opens today, July 22nd, and will be open until September 6th. We recommend applying for bus as soon as possible as there will be NO GRACE PERIOD for student riders. This means that students must have already applied and have their temporary passes with them to ride from the first day of school.
How to Apply for Bus:
For online applications, please go to hi.etrition.com/busapplication . You will need your student's DOE number which can be located on Infinite Campus or their report cards. Payment may be made online at EZSchoolPay.com after you receive an email confirmation approving your application or you may come to the main office. Payments may be cash or a check written to the Department of Education. If you pay online, an electronic temporary pass will be available at EZSchoolPay. A physical temporary pass will be printed if you pay at the main office.
If you are unable to apply online, or prefer hardcopy, we will have applications available for you in the main office where payment can be made at the same time.
For riders who would like to apply for a Free bus pass, please select "Free" for "Payment Plan" on the online application. Free bus passes must be approved by the state based on household size and income. The school will notify you if your student does not qualify for a Free bus pass. If your student does not automatically qualify as Free and you believe they should be, please apply for Free/Reduced Meal status at ezmealapp.com. When EZMealApp asks for State and District, please enter "Hawaii" for both. "DOE - Honolulu, Central..." will pop up for District; this is the correct one for Hawaii. Please note: EZMealApp processing time may take up to two weeks.
For faster confirmation of Free status, you may also come to the main office and fill in a CEP Household Survey form. We will be able to determine your student's status immediately.
Reminders:
1. There will be NO COUPONS and NO DISCRETIONARY PASSES this school year. Unfortunately, STSB has ended coupons services which means that students may not use tickets for one-time rides anymore. Additionally, the office will no longer be able to issue discretionary, one-time passes to students who have forgotten or lost their passes. If your student does not have their pass for any reason, they must purchase a replacement for $5.00 for a temporary pass to ride or arrange for another ride.
2. Students must now apply for a bus pass EVERY quarter. This applies to both Paid and Free riders. One application will not cover the whole year and they must be submitted within quarterly windows. If applications are submitted outside of these dates, it will be DENIED. Below are the applications timeframes:
Q1: July 22, 2024 – September 6, 2024
Q2: September 16, 2024 – November 15, 2024
Q3: November 25, 2024 – January 17, 2025
Q4: January 31, 2025 – March 28, 2025
Q2: September 16, 2024 – November 15, 2024
