[KVIKS NEWS BULLETIN INTRO]
Good morning Vikings! My name is Rianne Empaynado, a Senior from the Class of 2025. We warmly welcome the Freshmen Class of 2028. You are watching your first K-V-I-K-S News Bulletin. The news bulletin serves as morning announcements for all students to hear the latest information and reminders of all things Hilo High School! We start off every day with the date and periods! Today is Monday, August 5th, 2024. The periods today are ALL of them 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. At the end of the day, there will be a fire and off-site evacuation drill, then a LOT, or assembly. More about the drills, later.
For now, let’s talk about all the places online where you can find information! The KVIKS News Bulletin is played for all students at 8:10 AM, it can be found in advance on our school website, hilohigh.org and on youtube.com/hilohighschool.
You can also view the Hilo High School homepage for the most up to date information. The website is also connected to our app! To talk about the app, here’s Noumea!
Hi, I’m Noumea, a Junior of the Class of 2026. You can download the Hilo High School mobile app from the App Store and Google Play Store. On the App, whenever anything new is posted on our website, you can receive a push notification! You can also view the Food Menu, Bell Schedule, School Year Calendar, contact Teachers, and much more! Most importantly, there is an anonymous tip line that you can use to report any issues on campus immediately. However, if you want a Hilo High School official to follow up with you directly, there is a field where you can input your contact information. The tip line goes directly to people who can act upon it, so please do not be afraid to use it. There is a sign in feature where you can see more information related to you, but don’t worry, because the Anonymous Tip line is still Anonymous.
At this time, we are going to introduce you to our school bells! Our school utilizes musical bells. The morning bell sounds like this: (play audio sample), this indicates that you should report to your first class of the day. The tardy bell, which sounds like this: (play sample) will signal that you are tardy. At the end of the period, recess, and lunch, the bell sounds like this. (play sample) At the end of the day, this bell will ring (play sample), which means the school day is over. If you hear the following bell, that signals the end of a safety drill. (play sample) Got it? I am sure you will be used to the sounds of the bells. If you want to know the latest bell schedule, be sure to check out the school website, hilohigh.org… Now back to Rianne!
