College Visitations (9/9/24-9/19/24)
Next week we have the following visitations scheduled in the Career and College Counseling office:

Thursday, September 19 - Period 1: Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California.

Please go to N-103 to sign up for a session and pick up a pass to attend. This could be one of the best ways for you to learn more about a college, and it's never too early to start attending these sessions!
Speech and Debate (9/17/24-9/18/24)
Attention Speech and Debate club students! This is a reminder that club dues will be collected starting this week. Please bring a $10 check made payable to Hilo High Speech and Debate, or cash with you to Tuesday's meeting.
WHAT'S NEW VIKINGS?
Bus Pass Applications (9/17/24-9/27/24)
The application window for Quarter 2 bus passes is now open until November 15th. If you would like to ride for the second quarter, you can submit your application online or pickup and return a paper copy at the main office. Those of you who have a Quarter 1 bus pass may still ride until Fall Break, or October 4th. If you have any questions, please stop by the office.
Boys Soccer Sign Ups (9/17/24-10/4/24)
Any student interested in playing Boys JV/Varsity Soccer must sign up by October 4, 2024 at 3pm to participate. If you do not sign up, you will not be allowed to try out. Scan the URL code to sign up.
Art Club (9/17/24-9/20/24)
Aloha Art Club! This Friday you are meeting at the East Hawai'i Cultural Center from 2:00-4:00pm. Don't forget to complete the parent/guardian permission form posted on Google Classroom before attending the work session. Meet outside of Ms. Z's room (L-4) after period 6 on Friday if you would like to walk down as a group. There will be no on campus meeting. Mahalo!
PSAT/NMSQT Registration (9/16/24-9/27/24)
The PSAT/NMSQT is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2024 in the Hilo High Cafeteria. Those who are in 9th-11th grade, interested in attending college, and taking the SAT should consider taking this practice test to better prepare them for the real SAT. 11th graders who qualify for Free/Reduced lunches test for free. For all others, the test costs $18. To register, fill out the Google Form on screen. Spaces are limited to the first 100 students so sign up now!
FCA Meeting (9/16/24-9/20/24)
There will be an FCA Meeting this Thursday, September 19th, 2024, at the Pool during Lunch. Come down to listen to the word of God, and food will also be provided. Tell your friends and bring them. You do NOT have to be a Christian or an Athlete to attend these meetings.
Boys and Girls Tennis (9/16/24-9/23/24)
To all Boys & Girls interested in trying out for tennis this year, you are welcome to come out to our off-season hitting practices. Please see coach Leanne in F-Building for information.
You can also pick up a physical form which needs to be done to participate in any sport. Thank You!

[Kulia College Pathways VIDEO] (9/11/24-9/17/24)
Aloha, Vikings! I'm excited to share information with you about a newly formed non-profit organization called Kulia College Pathways, founded by one of our 2021 Viking Alumna SHWE WIN ! Kūlia College Pathways is a student-run initiative dedicated to supporting Hawai‘i public schools students through the college application process. They offer FREE 1:1 mentorship with Hawai‘i students who are currently attending top universities like Harvard, MIT, Columbia, and Vanderbilt. The volunteer-mentors are all Hawai'i high school graduates, and they can provide personalized support in areas like essay writing, college and scholarship application feedback, and more through weekly meetings.The application is now open to all current juniors and seniors and can be accessed through the QR code on the screen. The deadline to apply is September 18th, so if you are interested, you should apply NOW! If you have any questions or need more information, please see Mrs. Frias in N-103.
Picture Retakes (9/11/24-9/23/24)
Hey Vikings! Did you miss picture day? Picture retakes will be Next Monday, September 23rd in C-215. Faculty and staff will take their pictures before school and students during Period 2. Teachers, if you have a student who needs a retake, send them anytime between 8 and 9 AM. Mahalo!
Senior Mob Shot (9/6/24-9/23/24)
Attention Class of 2025 Seniors! Senior Mob Shot will be on Monday, September 23rd, 2024 at the New Gym during STARS. You will be going down to the New Gym after the recess bell rings, NOT with your STARS Class. Start preparing your mob shot poster! Here are the requirements. The poster size must not exceed 24” wide and 18” tall. It must contain appropriate subjects (Name, love, or place.) No contraband, cursing, profanity, or inappropriate themes. If you do not have your SPAV or the Student Publication/Audio/Video Release form signed and YES checked off on the form before Mob Shot, you CANNOT participate. Have any questions? Girls Basketball (8/20/24-9/30/24)
Any girls that are interested in playing basketball meet coach Fred at the old gym at 6:20pm (after air riflery practice) every Monday and Wednesday.
