Hey Vikings! TODAY, October 16th is UNITY DAY! Wear the color orange to pledge against bullying and promote kindness and inclusion! 

 

LEO Club meeting (10/16/24)

Attention all LEO Club Members! There will be a meeting at lunch TODAY in room C-215. Please bring your LEO Club applications as well as your dues. There are a few projects coming up and they need to be shared with you. They sound like super fun projects, so don't miss out! Please be sure to check out any announcements in your Google Classroom page. If you haven't been added, the classroom code is PPTUGDI.

Band Car Wash (10/14/2024 - 10/18/2024)

Hey Vikings! Our viking band is going to be holding a car wash fundraiser this Saturday, October 19th. It'll be at Puainako KTA, from 9 to 2. Car wash costs start at ten dollars. Hope to see you there, thank you!

 

Class Song Nominations (10/14/2024 - 10/18/2024)

Attention Class of 2025! Guess what? Song Nominations are here! Please visit the 2025 Graduation Google Classroom to nominate our class song! Also, refer to the classroom for future announcements & reminders. Use this as a guide to stay on track for graduation! The Google Form for song nominations will close on October 18, 2024. Start nominating!

 

Hilo High School Dive Team Meeting (10/14/2024 - 10/18/2024)

"It's all about your approach!" If you are interested in being a part of the Hilo High school Dive team please attend an informational meeting in N101 on Friday, Oct. 18, 2024 during recess.

Hawaiian Club Meeting: TOMORROW, October, 17 in Kumu Awa’s room at lunch

 

KVIKS Media General Meeting: TOMORROW,  Thursday, October 17th, in C-215 during lunch. Officer Nominations will be held. If you wish to pick up lunch before the meeting, pick up a lunch slip from C-117. Your $10 club dues are also due this week. Please seek out a KVIKS Officer or Advisor at any time.

 

Art Club Meeting: Friday, October 18, from 1:30-2:30 in Ms. Z's room (L-4). You will be taking a group photo for the yearbook.

 

HOSA Club Meeting: Friday, October 18, during lunch in Mr. Assi's room. 

 

Here’s what’s happening for Career and College Counseling:

Aloha, Vikings! The following military branches will be visiting Hilo High during LUNCH this week and next:

 

TODAY, Wednesday, October 16 - Navy

TOMORROW, Marines - Thursday, October 17

Army - Monday, October 21

 

On the day each branch is here, they will have a table set up near the patio, so if you're interested in gathering more information about what the military has to offer, you should plan to stop by. And remember, if you participate in their challenges, there's usually free stuff you can win!

 

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT VIKINGS 

 

EAC Community Event (10/11/24-10/18/24)

Do you have used and unwanted cardboard lying around your home or classroom, and you don't know what to do with them? Well, don't trash them just yet! On Saturday, October 19th from 8:30 to 11:30 AM, Hilo High in collaboration with Hilo Intermediate and Hānai Ka hai ā ulu will be hosting a Hilo Community Sustainable Saturday Event. Bring your clean cardboard (dry, no tape, no staples) and learn how we can repurpose them, divert the amount of trash entering our landfills, and help reduce greenhouse gasses. Drop-offs are also encouraged. See you at our Hilo Community Sustainable Saturday Event!

 

Girls Basketball (10/4/24-10/30/24)

Any girls that are interested in playing basketball meet coach Fred at the old gym at 6:20pm after air riflery practice every Monday and Wednesday.

Seal of Biliteracy (10/14/24-10/17/24)FRIAS ANNOUNCEMENT

Good morning, Seniors! Do you understand another language other than English? Are you a native speaker, heritage speaker, or have been taking world language classes? If so, you should consider applying for the Seal of Biliteracy. The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by the State Department of Education in recognition of students achieving a high level of proficiency in English and at least one other language by the time of high school graduation. You can learn more about the Seal of Biliteracy at an informational meeting on Thursday, October 17 in Shehata Sensei's classroom P-3 during lunch. Be proud of your language abilities, and I hope to see you at the meeting!
