Good morning Vikings, This is your K-V-I-K-S News Bulletin for Thursday, October 17th, 2024. My name is Jace. The periods today are 1, 3, 5, and 7     

 

Here are the club meetings that are happening today:

Filipino Club will be meeting in A-23, Mr. Ca cer es’ Room at Lunch. Please show up!

Hawaiian Club will be meeting in K-101, Kumu Awa’s room at lunch.

[Pause]

KVIKS MEDIA will be meeting in C-215 during lunch. Upcoming student elections and future broadcasts and projects will be discussed. If you wish to pick up lunch before the meeting, please pick up a lunch slip from C-117.

The FCA Club will be meeting at the POOL during lunch. Pizza and drinks will be provided so bring some friends to enjoy your pizza while learning about God. You do not have to be a Christian or an Athlete to attend. 

 

Here are the club meetings for the remainder of the week:

Art Club Meeting: TOMORROW, October 18, from 1:30-2:30 in Ms. Z's room (L-4). You will be taking a group photo for the yearbook.

HOSA Club Meeting: TOMORROW, October 18, during lunch in Mr. Assi's room. 

 

WHAT’S NEW VIKINGS?

 

BNR STARS Meeting (10/17/24-10/21/24)

Aloha to all of our Academy of Business & Natural Resources members! This is just a reminder that you will be meeting in the auditorium on Monday October 21st during STARS. So, please meet at the auditorium and not at your STARS classrooms right after recess on Monday, October 21. 

 

ACE Academy Open House (10/17/24-10/24/24)

There will be an ACE open house on Tuesday, October 29 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the cafeteria. Information regarding building, construction, and welding will be presented. Representatives from the HCC welding program and carpenter’s union will also be present to field questions from students and parents.

Please contact Mr. Ramos in person or at [email protected] to RSVP by Thursday, October, 24.

 

HHS Rummage Sale (10/17/24-10/18/24)

Got some items you no longer need? Do some fall cleaning and donate them to our upcoming rummage sale! We are accepting donations at the Hilo High cafeteria on October 18th from 2PM to 8PM. Clear out your space and support a great cause. The Rummage Sale will be on Saturday, October 19th from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM.Thank you and We hope to see you there!

 

Here’s what’s happening for Career and College Counseling:

Aloha, Vikings! The following military branches will be visiting Hilo High during LUNCH this week and next week:

TODAY, October 17 - Marines

Monday, October 21 - Army

 

On the day each branch is here, they will have a table set up near the patio, so if you're interested in gathering more information about what the military has to offer, you should stop by. And remember, if you participate in their challenges, there's usually free stuff you can win!

Band Car Wash (10/14/2024 - 10/18/2024)

Our viking band is holding a car wash fundraiser this Saturday, October 19th. It'll be at Puainako KTA, from 9 to 2. Car wash costs start at ten dollars. Hope to see you there, thank you!

 

Class Song Nominations (10/14/2024 - 10/18/2024)

Attention Class of 2025! As a reminder, please visit the 2025 Graduation Google Classroom to nominate your class song! Also, refer to the classroom for future announcements & reminders. Use this as a guide to stay on track for graduation! The Google Form for song nominations will close TOMORROW, October 18, 2024. Start nominating!

 

Hilo High School Dive Team Meeting

Seal of Biliteracy (10/14/24-10/17/24)FRIAS ANNOUNCEMENT

Good morning, Seniors! Do you understand another language other than English? Are you a native speaker, heritage speaker, or have been taking world language classes? If so, you should consider applying for the Seal of Biliteracy. The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by the State Department of Education in recognition of students achieving a high level of proficiency in English and at least one other language by the time of high school graduation. You can learn more about the Seal of Biliteracy at an informational meeting on Thursday, October 17 in Shehata Sensei's classroom P-3 during lunch. Be proud of your language abilities, and I hope to see you at the meeting!
