Pink Out Day (10/21/24-10/25/24)
Did you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month? In honor of this, Hilo High will be having a PINK OUT dress up day THIS FRIDAY, October 25th.
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women. Education and early detection are CRUCIAL in combating this disease, and by wearing pink this Friday, we can help do our part of spreading Breast Cancer Awareness and celebrating those who have fought breast cancer. Pink treats will also be handed out to those who dress up, so remember to wear PINK this Friday!
EAHCC Haunted House (10/22/24-10/25/24)
Aloha Vikings! If you’re looking for some spooky fun this weekend and want to see what Art Club has been up to, check out the Phantom Farm Haunted house located at the East Hawai'i Cultural Center. You won't want to miss it!
Hilo High Boys JV and Varsity Basketball (10/22/24-11/7/24)
Tryouts for boys JV and varsity basketball teams will begin on Thursday, November 7th, Friday November 8th and on Tuesday November 12th and Wednesday November 13th. Tryouts will be held at the new gym starting at 3:30pm and ending at 6:00pm. In order to participate, you will need to bring a current physical and use appropriate athletic shoes.
In addition, players will need to sign up prior to tryouts. To sign up, go to room F-85 in F building.
Conditioning will resume on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the new gym from 2:30-4:00pm. All prospective players are welcomed to attend. A copy of a current physical will also be needed to participate.
Academy of BNR Guest Speaker (10/22/24-10/25/24)
Attention Academy of Business & Natural Resources Students: If you still did not receive a permission form for the November 12th Shaka Tea Guest Speaker sessions, please get one from Ms. Zanetos in L-4. Friendly reminder that signed permission forms are due on Monday, 10/28. Mahalo!

BIIF Champions
We would like to congratulate our very own Hilo High Vikings Air Riflery team for capturing BOTH Boys and Girls BIIF Team Championships this past weekend! WE are so proud of you. Congratulations to Sarah Mukai, our girl’s BIIF Individual Champion and Kathryn Son for taking 2nd!
Congratulations to Kuhio Hai li-Mizumoto for taking 2nd place, missing 1st by only 0.7 points.

ACE Academy Open House (10/17/24-10/24/24)
There will be an ACE open house on Tuesday, October 29 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the cafeteria. Information regarding building, construction, and welding will be presented. Representatives from the HCC welding program and carpenter’s union will also be present to field questions from students and parents.

PAAC Guest Speaker (10/21/24-10/25/24)
Hey Vikings! A special guest speaker will be presenting on Friday, October 25th from 2:30-3:30 at Shehata Sensei's room in P-3. The presentation will include information and fun activities based around this year's country of focus for PAAC: Vietnam. Everyone is welcome to come!

Mabuhay Vikings! October is Filipino-American History Month! This month is to celebrate the first Filipinos who arrived in the Continental U.S. at Morro Bay, California on October 18, 1957. In 1992, the Filipino American National Historical Society introduced F.A.H.M, and in 2009, Congress officially recognized October to be F.A.H.M - Filipino-American History Month. In honor of this month, please come down to the front of the auditorium during morning recess to get Filipino snacks and candies. Salamat!
