KVIKS Media General Meeting (11/6/24-11/8/24)

Attention all KVIKS Media Members, there will be a General Meeting TODAY, November 8th, 2024 during lunch in C-215. We will be swearing in our inaugural officers for the 2024-2025 School Year, as well as going over important events. If you wish to pick up lunch before the meeting, please pick up a lunch slip from C-117. Mahalo!

 

NHS Meeting (11/7/24-11/8/24)

Hey NHS members! We will be having a meeting TODAY during lunch in Mrs. Masuyama’s room BB-102. We will have a little induction for the new members so hope to see you there, thank you!

 

Here’s what’s happening for Career and College Counseling:

Wednesday, Nov 13 - Pd 2 - University of Portland

Thursday, Nov 14 - Pd 7 - Universal Technical Institute - UTI

Friday, Nov 15 - Pd 4 - Washington State University

And during Pd 6 - UH Manoa College Opportunities Program

Go to N-103 to sign up for a session and pick up a pass to attend.

 

And, to ALL 10-12 graders who plan to attend the Career Fair on Thursday, November 14th: Your signed field trip forms are due as soon as possible to Mrs. Frias in N-103. The buses are filling on a first come-first served basis, so don't wait!

 

WHAT’S NEW VIKINGS?

 

Christmas Corners (11/7/24-11/20/24)

Tis the season vikings! As Christmas Corners is fast approaching, packets will be available for pickup. If you missed the informational meeting but still want to participate, go to room A-16 to pick up a packet. They're available for pickup from now until November 15. All packets are due by November 20th during lunch.

 

BNR Special Speaker (11/8/24-11/12/24)

Aloha all Academy of Business & Natural Resources members. On Tuesday, November 12th, we have the opportunity to meet up with some of the CEOʻs of one of our Academyʻs business partners, Shaka Tea! We will be meeting in the auditorium to start off our sessions during period 1. We will see you there! Aloha!

 

Hilo-Waiakea Chess Tournament (11/8/24-11/12/24)

Calling all Chess Players! The Chess Club at Waiakea has reached out to us to see if we would like to help create and enter a chess tournament with players from our two schools.

If interested, please contact Mr. Caceres in Room A-23 for more info and to sign up for this cross-town event

Leo Club (11/7/24-11/8/24) 

Attention all LEO Club Members! FRIENDLY REMINDER to please fill out the Google Form in Google Classroom.  Many of you still aren't filling out the forms, so Ms. T doesn't know if you'll be attending the upcoming project.  Please fill out the form and then, IF you will be participating, go to her office to pick up the permission form.  Remember, in order for you to participate and have your hours counted, you need to have the form completed!  Again, fill out the Google Form!

 

PALC Play (11/7/24-11/8/24) 

Good morning Vikings! PALC is putting on “As You Like It”, a timeless show about finding who you are and your place in the world. It will be running during the first weekend of December. More details to come.

Hilo High Cheer Team (11/7/24-11/8/24)

Congratulations to the Hilo High School Cheer Team!

They brought home FIRST PLACE at last Wednesday's BIIF competition! This incredible achievement showcased the team's hard work, dedication, and school spirit. Congratulations to each cheerleader, coach, and supporter who made this victory possible. Go Vikings!

 

Sister School Committee (11/8/24-11/11/24)

Kyoto Tachibana High School and Hilo High School are now SISTER SCHOOLS! Last month in October, both Hilo High School Principal Ms. Jasmine Urasaki and Kyoto Tachibana High School Principal Mr. Fumihiko Yasuda signed the Sister-School Agreement.

 

We will foster peace and tolerance between the students and staff of each institution and nations. If you have ideas how to connect and collaborate with the Kyoto Tachibana High School students, please share your ideas with your teachers and Shehata Sensei!

 

KVIKS WILL BE BACK AFTER THESE MESSAGES

 

Canned Food Drive (11/7/24-11/26/24) CLARA TO FILM

Heads UP: we will be holding our annual canned food drive from TUESDAY November 12 to to TUESDAY November 26th, you can donate canned goods to those in need in front of room A-16, during recess, lunch, or right after school!

 

For every two cans you donate, you'll get a ticket to dunk a teacher OR student in our dunk tank during lunch on November 27th!

So donating cans is a great way to help others and have some fun at the same time!

 

So, remember to donate any day from the 12th to the 26th, right in front of A-16 to help out our community and have some fun before Thanksgiving Break at our Dunk Tank!
