DRUG BAD
Aloha Hilo High School Vikings, this is Principal Okada with an important message regarding your safety and well-being here on campus. We've become aware of a deeply concerning trend: the dangerous and potentially life-threatening use of illicit drugs being disguised in vaping pens, food, and even candy. These substances can have devastating consequences on your health, both immediately and in the long run. Think about it – you might unknowingly take a hit from a vape pen offered by a friend, or eat a piece of candy, never suspecting it contains a dangerous drug. These substances can cause severe reactions, including difficulty breathing, seizures, overdose, and even death. Therefore, I want to be absolutely clear: do not accept any hits from vaping pens, or consume any food or candy from friends or other students unless you know and trust exactly what it is and where it came from. Your health and safety are paramount. If you see something suspicious or are approached with something that makes you uncomfortable, please report it immediately to a teacher, counselor, or any school staff member. We are here to protect you and ensure a safe learning environment for everyone. Vikings we need your help; IF YOU SEE SOMETHING - SAY SOMETHING. Remember, your future is bright. Don't let the dangerous use of illicit drugs steal that from you. Make smart choices, look out for yourselves and each other, and if you need help or have concerns, please reach out. We are here for you. Mahalo.
VANDALISM SAD
Aloha Hilo High School students, Let's talk about something important thatʻs impacting all of us: the repeated vandalism in the boys' restrooms. It's happening almost daily, Think about it – these acts are costing our school valuable resources. The time and money spent cleaning up and repairing damage could be used for things that benefit everyone, like new equipment, updated facilities, or even fun activities. Beyond the financial aspect, this behavior creates an unpleasant environment. Nobody wants to use a restroom that's been defaced or damaged. It's disrespectful to our school, our staff who work hard to maintain our campus, and to your fellow students. We understand that sometimes things happen, but the frequency of these incidents suggests a pattern that needs to stop. We are a Viking 'ohana, and we should treat our school with the respect and care it deserves. If you see something happening, or if you know who is responsible, please speak up. You can talk to a teacher, a counselor, an administrator, or any trusted adult on campus. Your voice can make a difference in stopping this. Let's work together to keep our school a clean, safe, and positive place for everyone. Show your Viking pride by respecting our facilities. Mahalo for your kokua.
