Mahalo Principal Okada!

Aloha Hilo High School Students, Families, and Community,

It is with a full heart and deep gratitude that I share that I will be transitioning from my role as Principal of Hilo High School to serve as the District Educational Specialist (DES) for our Hilo-Waiākea Complex Area.

As I prepare to close this chapter of my journey, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. It has been an incredible honor to serve this school and walk alongside our students, families, and dedicated staff as we worked together to shape a brighter future.

Hilo High School is more than just a campus, it’s a place of pride, perseverance, and aloha. Over the years, I’ve witnessed the remarkable strength and spirit of our community: students who rise to every challenge, families who offer unwavering support, and a community that truly believes in the potential of our youth.

To our students, you will always be the heart of Hilo High School. I want nothing more than for you to live happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives. Continue striving to be the best version of yourselves. Be kind, be helpful, be respectful; not just to others, but also to yourselves. Never sell yourselves short, because you are capable of great things. Believe in who you are, and never stop growing into the amazing people you’re meant to be. You make us proud every single day.

As I say goodbye in my role as principal, I am confident that Hilo High School will continue to thrive under the leadership of Mr. Adrian De Mello, who will be stepping in as your new principal. Please join me in giving him a warm Viking welcome and offering him your continued support and aloha.

Mahalo for the memories, the trust, and the opportunity to be part of something so meaningful. Though my role is changing, a piece of my heart will always remain with the Viking family.

A hui hou!!!

With Viking Pride,

Jasmine Okada
