Today at Hilo High School
(8/27-8/29) There will be no Lunch Kiosk for the rest of the week. All meals will be served in the cafeteria.
(8/26-8/27) EAC, or Environmental Agents Of Change, is having their first meeting TODAY, August 27, in Mr. Souza room C-123.
(8/25-8/27) Ceramics Club’s first meeting is TODAY, August 27th, during lunch. The Google Classroom code is 7wksfrdk. At the meeting, you’ll elect this year’s cabinet. Please bring your $10 membership fee so clay can be purchased for the club ASAP.
(8/27) Speech and Debate club is meeting TODAY, Wednesday, August 27th, in room A12a from 1:30 to 4. Please come join! All are welcome.
(8/27) The Girls Basketball Meeting general meeting with Coach Fred is TODAY, August 27, 2025 for people interested in playing this season. The meeting will take place immediately after school at the lower patio.
Yearbook Cover Design (8/25-8/27)
As a reminder, for those who want your artwork on the yearbook cover, make sure to turn in your cover art TODAY, August 27th. Don’t miss out on the chance to show off your creativity!
What’s New Vikings?
(8/27-9/10) It's the moment you've all been waiting for—homecoming! This year, homecoming week is from October 20th-24th, and the theme is "Our Story on Screen," a tribute to the magic of musicals. This theme is all about showcasing our individual talents and stories, all while working together to put on one amazing show—our school year! It connects with our year-long theme, "It's a Kakou Thing," which reminds us that we are stronger when we work together.
If you're interested in being part of this year's Homecoming Court, listen up! Packets are now available in Ms. Switzer's room, A-17. You can pick up a packet any time between August 27th and September 10th. Remember, the completed packets are also due back to Ms. Switzer by September 10th. Let’s make this year the most memorable homecoming yet!
(8/27-8/29) Attention LEO Club members! You have an opportunity to participate in a contest! Please check Google Classroom for more information. If you’d like to participate, pick up an application from Ms. T. Also, remember to turn in your club forms and dues to Ms. T at recess or lunch.

Attention Class of 2026! Mark your calendars — Senior Parent Night is coming up on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Parents' attendance will be your first opportunity to earn your first commencement ticket. Before the event, we’ll be hosting a Mini College & Military Fair from 4:45 to 5:30 PM — itʻs a great chance to explore your options after graduation. Seniors, don’t forget to follow our class Instagram @hilohigh2026 and join our Google Classroom: Hilo High Class of 2026 to stay updated on all senior year announcements! Make sure to stay connected and keep track of all important senior information by checking our class Instagram and Google Classroom regularly.

Other Announcements
(8/25-9/5) The next ASVAB for 10th–12th graders is Tuesday, September 9, in C-217 at 8:00 AM. Students interested in planning on joining the military post-high school must take this test. Email Mrs. Fukushima at [email protected] to reserve your spot by September 5. Space is limited to 20 students, first come, first served.
Driver Education (8/25-9/22)
Have your permit and want to get your license? Sign up for Driver Education classes! Go to the HHS website, click on 'Programs & Activities', select 'Driver Ed', and click on 'click here to sign up for Driver Ed'. Click on 'Student Enrollment Form' for Hilo High School, and fill out the Google form. The next class starts in October. Watch your email, because if you miss the RSVP email, you will need to sign up again!
[VIDEO] (8/18-22/25) Taiko Club’s Practices will be on August 27th from 3:15 to 4:00PM and August 28th from 3:30 to 4:15 pm also in the band room. Tryouts will be on September 3rd at 3:15.
