The Hawai‘i Access to Justice Commission ("Commission") is sponsoring an essay contest on “How does volunteering help your community?”
The contest is open to grades 10 to 12 and will begin on August 4, 2025. All essays must be emailed and received by September 5, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. HST. The award recipients will be recognized at the Commission’s Pro Bono Celebration at the Hawai‘i Supreme Court Courtroom in Honolulu on October 23, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.
Seven students will each receive a $500.00 award for his/her/their essay, and each student’s teacher/advisor listed on the entry form (only one) will receive a $100 award for educational purposes. A travel stipend will be provided for each of the honored students and one parent or guardian to cover the costs of airfare and car rental for students traveling from the neighbor islands.
