Good Morning Vikings! This is your K-V-I-K-S News Bulletin for Friday, September 5th, 2025. My name is Ms. Ili, and the periods today are 2, 4, and 6.

 

Today at Hilo High School

  

(9/4-9/5) There will be a HOSA meeting TODAY, Friday, September 5th, in Mr. Assi’s room (L-2). Please don’t forget to bring your $15 dues. You will be discussing important upcoming events and opportunities.

 

(9/5) There will be an Art club meeting TODAY, Friday, September 5th, after school in Ms. Z's room (L-4).

 

(8/25-9/5) Today, September 5th, is the LAST day to sign up for the ASVAB! The test will be next Tuesday, September 9th in C-217 at 8:00 AM. Students planning to join the military after high school must take this test. To reserve your spot, email Mrs. Fukushima at [email protected]. Space is limited to 20 students, first come, first served.



This Week in the Career and College Counseling Office

 

Northern Arizona University representative Abby Leigh Tudor will be here on Monday, September 8th at 8:30am during pd 2

and

University of Puget Sound representative Robin Aijian will also be here on Monday, September 8th at 12:15pm during pd 6

 

If you are interested in attending any of these informational sessions, please see Ms. Lawrence or Mrs. Frias in N-103 to sign up and pick up a pass.  Remember to get your corresponding teacher's signature and permission in order to attend.

 

What’s New Vikings?

 

(9/5-10/19) The PSAT/NMSQT is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025 and Wednesday, October 29, 2025. Those who are in 9th -11th grade, interested in attending college, and taking the SAT should consider taking this practice test to better prepare them for the real SAT. 11th graders who qualify for Free/Reduced lunch tests for free. For all others, the test costs $18. Priority will be given to current 11th grade students.  To register, scan the QR code on the screen.

 

(9/5) A Leo Club general meeting will be held next week Wednesday at lunch in C-216B, Ms. T’s room. Be sure to bring your club application form and dues. An upcoming project will be shared, along with other projects currently in the works. Don’t forget to join the Google Classroom with the code zsfdfwb4. Once again, LEO Club meeting next week Wednesday at lunch—don’t miss it!

(9/5) The Viking Band is hosting a Teapresso Fundraiser in the Hilo High parking lot on Sunday, September 7th, from 8:30 AM to 1:15 PM. Stop by for a delicious treat, and if you pre-purchased cookie or donut tickets, they’ll be handed out at the same time. Don’t miss this chance to support the Viking Band!

 

(9/4-9/17) The Blood Bank of Hawaii is returning to Hilo from September 16th to the 18th to hold a blood drive! Just one donation can save up to three lives!

Donating blood is a powerful way to make a difference. It's crucial for surgeries, emergency care, and for patients with chronic illnesses. Younger donors are especially important for keeping our blood supply strong and diverse to meet the needs of all patients.

Donations will be by appointment only and will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hilo located at 1373 Kilauea Avenue.

The drive will be held on the following days and times:

September 16th from 9 AM to 7 PM

September 17th from 8 AM to 6 PM

September 18th from 6 AM to 3 PM

To be eligible to donate, you must be at least 16 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Other restrictions that can be found on the website.

All staff and admin are also encouraged and invited to donate! Each student donor will be given a reward!

On the screen, the QR code on the left provides more information about eligibility and the drive, while the QR code on the right is for making appointments.

(8/27-9/10) Homecoming is coming soon! This year’s theme is “Our Story on Screen” and runs from October 20th to the 24th.

Interested in the Homecoming Court? Packets are available now in Ms. Switzer’s room, A-17, and must be picked up and turned in by September 10. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this year’s celebration!

[VIDEO] Class of 2026 Senior Parent Night

Attention Class of 2026! Mark your calendars — Senior Parent Night is coming up on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Parents' attendance will be your first opportunity to earn your first commencement ticket. Before the event, we’ll be hosting a Mini College & Military Fair from 4:45 to 5:30 PM — itʻs a great chance to explore your options after graduation. Seniors, don’t forget to follow our class Instagram @hilohigh2026 and join our Google Classroom: Hilo High Class of 2026 to stay updated on all senior year announcements! Make sure to stay connected and keep track of all important senior information by checking our class Instagram and Google Classroom regularly.

Other Announcements

 

(8/25-9/22) Have your permit and want to get your license?  Sign up for Driver Education classes!  Go to the HHS website, click on 'Programs & Activities', select 'Driver Ed', and click on 'click here to sign up for Driver Ed'.  Click on 'Student Enrollment Form' for Hilo High School, and fill out the Google form. The next class starts in October.  Watch your email, because if you miss the RSVP email, you will need to sign up again!
