Good Morning Vikings! This is your K-V-I-K-S News Bulletin for Friday, September 12th, 2025. My name is Kumu Drew and my name is Kumu Awa, and the periods today are 1, 3, 5, and 7.

A representative from Gonzaga University in Washington will be here TODAY, September 12 @ 1:30pm during pd 7.  Please see Ms. Lawrence and Mrs. Frias to sign up and pick up a pass to attend.

 

Seniors! Today is the FINAL DAY to submit baby photos and senior quotes for the yearbook. No late submissions will be accepted. If you do not submit, your baby photo and/or quote will not be included in the yearbook. Don’t miss your chance to be part of these special senior memories!

 

Ready for the ultimate "Tourist Takeover?" TONIGHT, September 12th, at 6:00 PM, the BIIF is about to get a major dose of island spirit. We're taking on HPA at Francis Wong Stadium, and we need our student section to be in full force, dressed in your best tourist gear. Think Hawaiian shirts, leis, sunglasses, and fanny packs. Show up in your tackiest tourist look and let's bring the energy!

Attention Class of 2026! Just a reminder that payments for senior ads are due by September 20th, 2025. Completed ads must be submitted by December 10th, 2025 at hilohigh.org/yearbook or scan the QR code on the screen. HILO HIGH TEACHERS this message is for you!!! The Hilo High School LEO Club is offering you some Classroom Aloha!  Please look for an email from Ms. T with a Google Form link.  If you are interested in receiving some Classroom Aloha, please fill out the form and submit it.  First Come, First Served! So, make sure you put in your form quickly!  

 

Also, LEO CLUB MEMBERS! A new project was just posted in Google Classroom!  Please be sure to fill out the form even if you cannot attend. If you haven't added yourself into the Google Classroom, please be sure to do so!  The class code is on the screen.

In Case You Missed It Vikings

 

Hilo High School Athletics is conducting a survey to gather student interest in athletics. The goal is to explore adding more sports programs in the coming years, and student feedback will guide which sports are considered. The data collected will be used to help make these decisions. Students interested in participating should click the “BIIF Student Interest in Athletics Survey” link on the Hilo High website under News/Athletics.

 

Portrait retakes will take place during period 2 on Monday, September 22nd, 2025 in room C-215. Be sure to get a pass from your period 2 teacher. Students can also come in for retakes before school from 7:30 to 8:00 AM. Need a Photo packet? See Ms. Lawrence in Room N-103.

 

Class of 2028! Want to be featured in this year’s yearbook? Submit a photo of you and your friends from sophomore year, along with a short description and the names of everyone in the picture (in order). Use the QR code on screen to send your submissions. Entries are open through Friday, September 19th. Don’t miss this chance to make your sophomore year unforgettable!

 

Class of 2026! Celebrate the seniors who’ve made their mark by voting for classmates in categories like funniest, most athletic, most artistic, and more! Most categories require one boy and one girl, while Best Duo and Best Bromance need one set. Voting closes September 15th, with results revealed in the yearbook.

Other Announcements

 

The PSAT/NMSQT is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025 and Wednesday, October 29, 2025. Those who are in 9th -11th grade, interested in attending college, and taking the SAT should consider taking this practice test to better prepare them for the real SAT. 11th graders who qualify for Free/Reduced lunch tests for free. For all others, the test costs $18. Priority will be given to current 11th grade students.  To register, scan the QR code on the screen.

 

The Blood Bank of Hawaii is holding a blood drive in Hilo from September 16–18 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1373 Kilauea Avenue.
Sept 16: 9 AM–7 PM
Sept 17: 8 AM–6 PM
Sept 18: 6 AM–3 PM

Donating blood saves lives and helps patients in surgeries, emergencies, and chronic care. Donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh 110+ pounds, and meet eligibility requirements found on the website. Appointments are required—scan the QR codes on the screen for eligibility info and scheduling. Student donors will also receive a reward. Staff and admin are encouraged to donate too!

 

Have your permit and want to get your license?  Sign up for Driver Education classes!  Go to the HHS website, click on 'Programs & Activities', select 'Driver Ed', and click on 'click here to sign up for Driver Ed'.  Click on 'Student Enrollment Form' for Hilo High School, and fill out the Google form. The next class starts in October.  Watch your email, because if you miss the RSVP email, you will need to sign up again!
