(9/29-10/1) ATTENTION ALL LEO Club Members! There will be a general club meeting TODAY at lunch recess in Ms. T’s room to go over upcoming projects. Please bring completed applications and dues. The final day to submit applications and dues is Thursday, October 2nd.
This week in the Career and College Counseling Office
Ronne Turner from Washington University in St. Louis will be visiting Hilo High TOMORROW, October 2nd at 8:45am during pd 1. If you are interested in learning more about Wash U, please see Ms. Lawrence or Mrs. Frias in N-103 to sign up and pick up a pass.
Are you interested in attending an upcoming conference for all Pacific Islander high school students being held at UH Hilo called Pac-YES? The conference is scheduled for Saturday, October 18 from 9:00am to 2:00pm at UH Hilo. It is organized by UH Hilo's Micronesians United-Big Island organization, and we would love for you to attend. Please come to a meeting in Ms. Ramangmou's classroom C-125 during lunch this Thursday to find out more about the conference and get registered to attend.
What’s New Vikings?
Students and staff, it’s time to nominate faculty and staff members for this year’s Hilo High Hall of Fame! Nominations are due by Tuesday, October 14th. Voting will take place the following week—don’t miss your chance to honor the Viking staff who make a difference every day!
The Kakou Corner Store (formerly known as the Hero Store) will open TOMORROW, October 2nd, during recess and lunch. Students, bring all the Kakou Dollars you have earned from your teachers for displaying Pride and Excellence!
(9/30 - 10/2) Attention all KVIKS Media Members! We will be having our general meeting TOMORROW, October 2nd in room C-215. If you wish to pick up your lunch early, you may pick up a pass in C-117. Inauguration of the club officers will take place during this meeting.
(9/29-10/2) Canoe Paddling is starting up soon! Optional conditioning will be held on Wednesdays, October 15th, 22nd, and 29th from 3:30 to 5:00 PM. Mandatory tryouts have been updated and will now take place on November 4th and 5th, from 3:30 to 5:00 PM at the Hilo High School Pool. Please remember that a current sports physical must be completed before participating in conditioning and/or tryouts. All required paperwork must be completed on Rank One. (9/29-10/16) Sports physicals will be offered here at Hilo High School on Thursday, October 16th in the Health Room. These physicals are by appointment only—no walk-ins will be accepted. Parents and students are encouraged to make a physical appointment with their primary care provider first. However, this clinic is available for those who are unable to get them from their PCP. To register, please scan the QR code on the screen.

(9/25-10/3) Class of 2028! HOCO Dance Practice is happening now until October 3rd during lunch recess in the old gym.
(9/26-10/3) The Hilo High Boys and Girls Golf Team will be holding signups for the 2026 season starting Monday, September 29 through Friday, October 3. Both returnees and new players are welcome. For more information or to sign up, contact Coach Randy Pak at 808-934-0049.

Other Announcements
(9/22-10/3) Boys Soccer sign-ups are now open! Anyone interested in playing this school year must complete the Google Form to be eligible. Students who do not sign up will not be allowed to try out. The deadline is Monday, October 6th, by 3 PM. The season is expected to begin in mid-October. A completed physical is required, and there will be no preseason conditioning.
