Good morning Vikings! This is your K-V-I-K-S News Bulletin for Wednesday, January 7, 2026. My name is Wanvisa. Today's periods are 2, 4, and 6.
We want to say a special thank you, and congratulations to Vice Principal Ili as she takes on her new role as Principal of Kahalu’u Elementary School on O’ahu. We will all remember her kindness and the impact she had on our school. Mrs. Ili has already left for her new role last week, and we wish her all the best!
Here’s What’s New Vikings
(1/6-1/15) The Blood Bank of Hawaii is returning to Hilo next week for a three-day blood drive! There are no walk-ins, appointments are required, so be sure to reserve a time using the QR code on screen, by calling 808-848-4770, or visiting bbh.org. The drive will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hilo, located on 1373 Kilauea Avenue.
Here are the dates and times:
Tuesday, January 13th, from 9 AM to 7 PM;
Wednesday, January 14th, from 8 AM to 6 PM;
and Thursday, January 15th, from 6 AM to 3 PM.
When checking in, remember to provide the Hilo High School Lifesaver Club sponsor code, 383.
Students under 18 who would like to donate must pick up a parent authorization and eligibility form from Mr. Assi’s room, L-2.
(1/7-1/15) Boys and Girls Tennis tryouts will take place February 9th through the 11th.The schedule is as follows:
February 9th — Girls from 3 to 4:30 PM, Boys from 4:30 to 6 PM
February 10th — Boys from 3 to 4:30 PM, Girls from 4:30 to 6 PM
February 11th — Girls from 3 to 4:30 PM, Boys from 4:30 to 6 PM
A current physical and a completed Rank One account are required to try out. Students who still need to sign up or have questions should see Coach Leanne.
(1/6-1/9) Art Club! Please wear your club shirt this Friday, January 9th for your group photo after school in Ms. Z's room (L-4).
(1/6-1/13) Hilo High School Boys and Girls golf will be having an informational meeting on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 3:30pm at the Hilo Muni driving range. All interested, please call coach Randy Pak at 808-934-0049
(1/6 - 1/8) There will be a KVIKS Media General Meeting this Thursday, January 8th in C-215 during Lunch. If you would like school lunch for the meeting, please sign up in C-117.
