Here’s What’s New Vikings
(2/24-2/25) This is the last week of lunchtime hula classes, brought to you by our very own Hula Class. Join in K101 on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, especially if you are planning to perform alongside the hula class. Kumu will be sharing important details about Friday’s lunch rally performance. Hope to see everyone there. Mahalo!
(2/23-2/27) Do you play TCGs? The Hilo High Tabletop Club is hosting informal “Magic: The Gathering” gameplay on Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Bring a standard 60-card deck or a Commander deck and come play a few rounds.
In Case You Missed it Vikings
(2/17-2/25) Juniors! The ACT will take place this Thursday, February 26, 2026, in the New Gym. Check-in begins at 7:40 a.m. Don’t be late! Once testing begins, no one will be admitted. Be sure to bring a school ID for check-in, along with pencils/pens, snacks, water, and an approved calculator if needed. All electronic devices must be powered off and stored in a bag. Get a full night’s sleep, eat a good breakfast, and arrive early to stay calm and focused.

Two Hilo High teams competed this past weekend at UH Mānoa at the Japan Wizards Statewide Competition! Congratulations to Team A:Kendall Terao-Toma, Riann Shiro, and Max Takata, and Team B: Phoenix-Xyler Lopez, Callan Taira, and Coen Uchida. Team A took home the Most Educational Video Award and a $150 prize for a Japanese food feast! Way to represent Hilo High, Vikings!

(2/18-2/26) Ho‘oulu Academy students! The next value of the week from February 17–27, is Kuleana, meaning responsibility. Students are encouraged to show kuleana by taking ownership of learning, following through on commitments, being accountable for actions, caring for shared spaces and the ʻāina, and leading by positive example. 5 lucky students who demonstrate the value will be chosen to receive a free Ice Cake!
