03/03/2026 KVIKS News Bulletin

[KVIKS NEWS BULLETIN INTRO]

Good morning Vikings! This is your K-V-I-K-S News Bulletin for Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026. My name is Kai. Today's periods are 1, 3, 5, and 7.

Today at Hilo High School

(3/3) Aloha Hawaiian Club members, there will be a meeting TODAY, March 3rd during Lunch, in Kumu ʻAwa’s room to discuss upcoming events and reflect on past activities. See you there! Mahalo.

This Week in the Career and College Counseling Office

A group of representatives from 4 different colleges in New Zealand will be visiting Hilo High School on Friday, March 6 during pd 3.  If you are interested in attending the session, please see Ms. Lawrence or Mrs. Frias in N-103 to sign up and pick up a pass.  Your pd 3 teacher will need to sign your pass to give you permission to attend.

Here’s What’s New Vikings

(3/3-3/6) Seniors! Itʻs the last week before prom! Donʻt forget that bid pickup and seat selection will be on Wednesday March 4th through Friday March 6th outside of Ms. Switzer's room A-16. Remember if you are bringing a guest they are going to be sitting with you. Be sure to go early and secure your spot!

Congratulations to the following Ho‘oulu Academy students who demonstrated the value of Kuleana from February 23-27! Kallie Kiriu, Keoni Bauer, Leeah Cristobal-Bennett, Mahina Maag, and Xena Guerrero. Keep up the good work and your tickets for your free Ice Cake will be passed out to you in your classes.

Ho‘oulu Academy, you still have a chance to win a free Ice cake. 5 lucky students who demonstrate the value of the week will be chosen every week. The next value to focus on from March 2 to the 13th, is MALAMA. Mālama means to care for, protect, and nurture what has been entrusted to us: our people, our spaces, our programs, and our ʻāina. This value naturally builds upon our previous focus on Kuleana (Responsibility). If kuleana is understanding our responsibility, then mālama is how we actively live it out each day. Teachers and staff, please be intentional in recognizing students who show Malama for the next few weeks.

(3/2-3/6) Bus Riders, the application window for Qtr. 4 is now open!  Please remember to apply as soon as possible!  You can either apply online or pick up a paper application from the main office.

(3/2-3/6) PALC will be holding their second annual Variety Show this Friday, March 6, 2026 in the Auditorium. Doors open at 6:30PM and the show starts at 7PM. Admission is $5 at the door, cash only. Please come and enjoy the amazing talents our students have to offer!
