(3/12) Congratulations to the following Ho‘oulu Academy students who stepped up and demonstrated the value of Malama from March 2-6th: Rayden Rice, Chloe Yanagisawa, Malu Hamada, Ma Shella Rosario, and Kiana Julian. These students exemplified Malama by caring for, protecting, and nurturing our people, our spaces, our programs, and our ʻāina. Your tickets for your free Ice Cake will be passed out to you.
(M)Bright Spots
(3/10) Congrats to the Hilo High Surf Team on a groundbreaking first BIIFs Surf Meet Competition. HHS placed in multiple events, including 1st placers in bodyboarding and shortboarding. Cheee Hooo to Isaiah Ishigo in bodyboarding & Sandler Everly in shortboarding, two first placers--and to all competitors who gave it their all in a Huge Northeast Head-High Swell. A BIG Cheee HOOOO! for all the effort and stylings of the HHS SURF TEAM!!!
(3/10) This past Saturday, the Hilo High Speech and Debate team competed in the Hawaii Island District Qualifying Tournament that was held at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. It was a long day of intense competition in both Speech and Debate events. Congratulations to the following students who have qualified for the State tournaments and will be traveling to O'ahu to compete in late April: Keoni Randolph, Senaka Reddy, Joy Ridgely, Maile Nelson, Finn Balzotti, Amanda Son, Sky Bardwell-Jones, Ryder Adolfo, and Maddi Rutan.
(3/10) Congratulations to the Math Team for another strong performance this past Saturday. Hilo High Hosted Meet #6, and the mathletes solved their way to a 4th place finish out of 21 teams, 3 from Big Island and 18 from Oahu. Our math team continues to exceed expectations this year. There’s one more meet left in the year, and we are hoping for our best finish yet! So, if you see a mathlete around campus, give them a high five and a warm Mahalo for representing Hilo High so well.
