Good morning Vikings! This is your K-V-I-K-S News Bulletin for Thursday, April 2nd, 2026. My name is Anna. Today's periods are 1, 3, 5, and 7. As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow, April 3rd, in observance of Good Friday.

 

Today at Hilo High School

 

(3/31-4/2) KVIKS Media Members! There will be a meeting TODAY during lunch in C-215. This will be an important one as elections and some upcoming events will be covered.

 

(3/24-4/2) All 10th to 12th graders, TODAY is the last day to sign up for the ASVAB, which is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, 2026. The test will be held in C-217 starting at 8:00 AM. If you are planning to join the military after high school, the ASVAB is required. Email Mrs. Fukushima at [email protected] to reserve a spot. Space is limited to 20 students and is first come, first served.

 

Here’s What’s New Vikings  

 

(4/1-4/13) The Hilo High Senior Summit and CTE Fair is coming up! This is a chance to learn about the career pathways available on campus and see the work of students in work-based learning programs. Students, families, and community members are welcome to attend.

The event will be on Wednesday, April 15, from 4 to 6 PM at the Hilo High main campus. Please RSVP at bit.ly/senior summit hhs. Food will be available for purchase from Ishida’s Kitchen and Ala’s Smash Burgers. Don’t miss this chance to see students in action and explore future pathways!

 

(3/31-4/2) Sharks! The Freshman Academy Banquet is coming up! Stop by in front of Ms. Switzer’s classroom (A-17) to pick up a packet this week during lunch. Don’t forget to bring your $5, and make sure all obligations are cleared before claiming a packet.

(3/23-3/30) Girls interested in playing basketball next year are invited to attend skill workouts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:00pm to 7:45pm, where you will be working on dribbling, passing, shooting, and footwork while building skills for the upcoming season.

 

(3/31-4/3) Ho‘oulu Academy, there’s still a chance to win a free ice cake! Five students who demonstrate the value of the week are selected each week. On the screen are the winners from March 23-27, Congratulations! The value for March 30 - April 2 is Hōʻihi, meaning respect. Show respect through words, tone, and actions toward peers and staff, listen attentively and value the perspectives of others, demonstrate pride in their work and learning environments, treat tools, equipment, and shared spaces with care and finally represent Ho‘oulu Academy positively in and out of the classroom.


(3/30-4/2) It's that time of year again to start planning for the upcoming summer!  If you have any classes you need to make up, the Hilo High Summer Program is ready to begin accepting your registration.  As usual the Summer Program is FREE to Hilo High students, and is a great way to earn up to 1 credit. The Summer Program will run from June 2 - July 13.  Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 11:30am, with free breakfast and lunch available.  On-time attendance is mandatory, so before you sign up, make sure you are able to commit to the entire 6-week session. Please scan the QR code on the flyer to register for the class you need.  Please see Vice Principal Fernandez, or Mrs. Frias if you have any questions.  The deadline to register is May 15, or when the courses fill up.
