08/03/2026 KVIKS News Bulletin

Good morning Vikings! My name is Kai Bowlin, a senior from the Class of 2027, and my name is Chriss Yanagisawa, a junior from the Class of 2028.  We warmly welcome the Freshmen class of 2030. You are watching your first K-V-I-K-S News bulletin, the News bulletin serves as morning announcements for all students to hear the latest information of all things Hilo High School

We start off everyday with the date and periods! Today is Monday, August 3rd, 2026, the periods today are ALL OF THEM, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, - 7, and Advisory. After this, you will have a tour of the campus, followed by different activities within your class periods. At the end of the day, you will report back to your advisory where we will have our fire and off-site evacuation drill, which will lead you to your first LOT, or Assembly.

But first, let's talk about all the places you can find information online! Teachers are expected to play the morning bulletin for all students EVERYDAY at 8:10AM, however it can be found in advance on our school website, hilohigh.org and on the Hilo High School Youtube Channel.

You can also view the Hilo High School Homepage for the most up to date information, which is connected to the Hilo High app, which can be downloaded from the Apple Store and Google Play store! On the app, you will be notified with the most up to date information through push notifications! You can also view the Food menu, Bell schedule, and so much more! Most importantly, there is an anonymous tip line within the app where you can report any issues on campus immediately. On the other hand, if you would like a Hilo High School follow up directly, there is a field where you can input your contact information. The tipline goes directly to people who can act upon it, so please don’t be afraid to use the tip line!

Now, we will be introducing you to our bells. Unlike traditional school bells, our school utilizes musical bells! The morning bell sounds like this: (play audio sample), this will indicate that you should report to your first class of the day! The tardy bell, which sounds like this: (Play an audio sample), will indicate that you are tardy. At the end of the period, recess, and lunch it sounds like this(Play an audio sample), and at the end of the day, the bell will sound like this(Play an audio sample), which will indicate that the school day is over. We hope you enjoy our bells and get to know them easily! But in the meantime, if you want to know the latest bell schedule, be sure to check out the school website, hilohigh.org or the mobile app!

As our new freshmen class we strongly advise you to enroll in our identimetrics, or finger printing system. This will allow you to use your finger print as a secondary ID in case you forget your physical ID and still want to get breakfast and or lunch! To enroll please go to the Learning Resource Center (LRC).

Before we let you go, here is a quick announcement!
