Welcome Back Vikings! This is your K-V-I-K-S News Bulletin for Tuesday, August 4th, 2026.
My name is Kaolu. Today's periods are 1, LOT, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. School ends at 2:15 PM.

Here are some things you need to know at the start of our school year!
Our bell schedule this year has changed. On Monday, the periods are 2, 4 and 6, with school ending at 1:10 PM. On Tuesday and Thursday, the periods will remain 1, 3, 5, and 7, with school ending at 2:15 PM. On Wednesday, the periods are now 2, ADVISORY (Formerly STARS), 4 and 6, with school ending at 1:05 PM. On Friday, the schedule rotates between Even and Odd periods.
Another major change is that the Hawaii Board of Education adopted a statewide policy that within high schools, including ours, that cell phone use is prohibited during instructional time. Schools may exercise discretion regarding use outside of instructional time, including before and afterschool, and during designated breaks, recess, lunch and free periods. More information about Hilo High School’s implementation will be shared as it comes out.
As a result, students are highly expected to bring their designated school computer with them to class. There is a limited supply of Chromebooks per class. The computer you were issued is not to be kept at home, it should be used on campus as part of your learning.
If you need a Chromebook, or if you need a replacement, please go to the LRC this week during Recess, Lunch and Afterschool.
Student Fee Payments and Obligations
If you haven’t yet paid your school fees, or obligations, the office is accepting payments only during recess, lunch and after school. Students should not be coming to make payments during class time.
Replacement IDs and Identimetrics
You know what NOBODY LIKES? Long lunch lines! To help speed up the process, students should have TWO things with them at all times. 1) Your School Issued ID or 2) Your fingers!
To check out for lunch, simply present your ID or scan your fingerprint. If you don’t have your ID, or if your fingerprint is not yet enrolled, please go to the LRC during recess, lunch and afterschool.
In Case You Missed it Vikings
(5/22-9/1) It’s time to help create the cover for the 2026–2027 yearbook themed: Rooted to Rise. Submit your artwork for a chance to have your design featured on the yearbook cover. To submit artwork, scan the QR code posted around campus or on the bulletin slides. Submissions close on Tuesday, September 1st, so make sure your artwork is turned in on time. Thank you for helping create this year’s yearbook!
