Ho'āla ambassadors - There is a meeting today during lunch recess in A17 (Mr. Nakasato's room) to discuss upcoming events including Open House, the Academy All-Stars and officer elections.
HHS Tabletop Game Club (8/19/2026)
Got a Game? Let's Play! We are looking for new members. Come join us for Board games, Card games and more. We meet Wednesdays and Fridays, 3pm to 5pm, Bring a game of your choosing or just bring yourself to Room A23.

SPIRIT RALLY THIS FRIDAY (8/14/2026)
This Friday, SGA will be hosting our first rally of the year! At lunch, come to the front of the auditorium wearing your best Hilo High attire and be prepared for some fun games and activities. We'll see you all on Friday!
Viking Merch Store (8/14/2026)
Hey Vikings! The Viking Store is now open every day at lunch. Stop by to purchase some Hilo High merch at room B-35 while supplies last.
Math Team Info Meetings (8/13/2026)
Aloha Vikings, Do you like competition? Do you like math? Do you like crushing our cross town rivals and that school up the hill to Volcano? If yes, come by Mr. Youngʻs room, A-5, on Friday during lunch to hear about and join the math team! Again, A-5 on Friday at lunch for the mathletes who want to hear about the math team. Go Vikings!
Japan Club Meeting (8/13 - 8/17, 2026)
Ohayo Gozaimasu to all returning Japan Club members, and good morning to any students interested in joining! We will be having our general membership meeting on Monday, August 17, during lunch recess in Shehata Sensei's classroom, P-3. We will go over club activities, dues and fees, and more! Youth Car Show
On Saturday, August 15th, the Hilo Drag Strip will host the Island Showdown, featuring a youth car show and drag race. This free event is sponsored by the County of Hawaii, the Prosecuting Attorney's office, HI-PAL, and the Hawaii County Fire Department. Aloha Viks! Are you hungry after school? The Pacific & Asian Affairs Council, also known as the PAAC Club, will be selling cup noodles after school every Tuesday and Thursday in Shehata Senseiʻs room in P-3 from 2:15 pm to 2:45 pm. This fundraiser will support our trip to the Jeju International Youth Forum in South Korea in October! Thank you!

Underclassman Picture Taking
Reed Takaaze is taking school photos for grades 9 through 11 on Tuesday, August 18 and Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Picture taking is free, but if you would like to order prints, scan the QR code and enter access code: B2M5E. Visit the school website for the link and more information as well.
Performing Arts Learning Center
Are you interested in acting, singing, dancing, or just working backstage? PALC sign ups are happening NOW! Form pick ups are located in the Auditorium and Front Office. These are due on August 25th, 2026, which just so happens to be PALC's first meeting! There is an additional Parent Meeting on August 20th, 2026 to go over the events happening throughout the school year. Thank you!
(5/22-9/1) It’s time to help create the cover for the 2026–2027 yearbook themed: Rooted to Rise. Submit your artwork for a chance to have your design featured on the yearbook cover. To submit artwork, scan the QR code posted around campus or on the bulletin slides. Submissions close on Tuesday, September 1st, so make sure your artwork is turned in on time. Nalukai Academy Program
Explore social entrepreneurship with the Nalukai Fall 2026 Academy! This program runs during Fall Break, October 5th through 9th, from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM at UH Hilo’s College of Hawaiian Language building. Students will build key leadership skills and will also receive a laptop to keep! Scan the QR code on the screen to sign up by September 13th.
