Just a reminder, Vikings! Today is the last day for school photos for grades 9 through 11, during your English class. 

 

Ho’ala Advisory (8/26) 

If you are in the Hoʻala Academy, report to the cafeteria for advisory, TODAY, August 26. Report straight to the cafeteria. Your teacher will record your attendance at the cafeteria. If you are unsure what academy you are in, the Hoʻala academy consists of Constructions, Welding, Engineering, Business, Creative Media, JROTC, and Computer Science. 

 

Freshmen Council Voting (8/26)

Class of 2030! Council voting will take place TODAY, during ADVISORY. Be sure to cast your vote and have a voice in shaping your class!

 

Ceramics Club Meeting (8/24-8/26)

The first ceramics club meeting is TODAY, August 26, during Lunch in C-101. The meeting will discuss future events and brainstorm ideas. Membership is just $10. See you there!

 

Speech and Debate Club Practices (8/25-8/26)

Attention all Speech and Debate club members! Practices begin this week in Mrs. Baum's room A12A after school Wednesdays and *EVEN* Fridays from 1:30-4. Officer elections will take place this TODAY so be prepared with a 1 min speech. Friday's practice will be on topic breakdown for LD and PF. Thanks and see you there!

Junior Class Homecoming Sign-up (8/26-9/3)

Panthers! Your Junior Class needs YOU! Homecoming season is here, and your class is building an amazing crew. They’re looking for dancers, artists, decorators, and all kinds of behind‑the‑scenes support to help bring the Junior Class vision to life. Wanna contribute your talent, creativity, and Panther spirit? Sign up via the QR code today.

 

Hilo High Tabletop Club (8/26-8/28)

Do you like board games and RPGs? Join the Hilo High Tabletop Club! They are a casual club where you can come and go as you please, and they are looking for like-minded individuals to enhance and expand the group. Engage in their fandom or bring your own, whether it's sci-fi, fantasy, or anime. They meet Wednesdays and Fridays after school until 5:00 PM, so come out and play some games!

 

Homecoming Court Packet Pick Up (8/26-8/28)

Interested in running for homecoming court? Come pick up a packet this week during lunch at B-33. Don’t miss your chance to represent your class!

 

Hui Hawaiʻi-Hawaiian Club (8/26-8/27)

Huiiii!  E hele mai and join the Hawaiian Club!  We are having our first meeting on Thursday-Aug 27 during lunch in K101 in Kumu ʻAwaʻs room.  Come and see what we are all about!  See you there!  Mahalo! A hui hou!

 

HHS Colorguard Team (8/25-8/28)

Want to perform, make new friends, and march in parades with the Hilo High Viking Band? They are looking for students to join the Color Guard team! No experience is necessary—they’ll teach you everything you need to know. Come be part of the excitement and represent Hilo High alongside the Viking Band! If you’re interested, there will be a meeting on Friday, August 28th, after school in the band room.

Performing Arts Learning Center

Are you interested in acting, singing, dancing, or just working backstage? PALC sign ups are happening NOW! Form pick ups are located in the Auditorium and Front Office. These are due on August 25th, 2026, which just so happens to be PALC's first meeting! There is an additional Parent Meeting on August 20th, 2026 to go over the events happening throughout the school year. Thank you!

 

Senior Mob Shot (8/17-9/22)

SENIORS! The date for Senior Mob shot has been decided! Please come to school with your completed signs on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026. Mob shot will take place in the New Gym during your Advisory class and your sign will need to meet these specifications in order to be included: Your sign should not be any larger than 24 by 18 inches, your sign must contain ONLY appropriate subjects like Name, Love, and Place, and your sign must NOT contain any cursing or profanity, contraband, or inappropriate themes. If your sign fails to meet one or more of these specifications, it will not be permitted.

 

(5/22-9/1) It’s time to help create the cover for the 2026–2027 yearbook themed: Rooted to Rise. Submit your artwork for a chance to have your design featured on the yearbook cover. To submit artwork, scan the QR code posted around campus or on the bulletin slides. Submissions close on Tuesday, September 1st, so make sure your artwork is turned in on time. Thank you for helping create this year’s yearbook!

 

PAAC

Aloha Viks! Are you hungry after school? The Pacific & Asian Affairs Council, also known as the PAAC Club, will be selling cup noodles after school every Tuesday and Thursday in Shehata Senseiʻs room in P-3 from 2:15 pm to 2:45 pm. This fundraiser will support our trip to the Jeju International Youth Forum in South Korea in October! Thank you!

Are you interested in learning the art and spirit of Taiko? The Hilo High Taiko Club is holding its tryouts on August 26, 27 and September 2, and 3rd. Wednesdays at 3:15 to 4:00 and Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:15! Don't miss out on this great opportunity to learn about Taiko playing and other aspects of Japanese culture! Reach out to our Club President Aloura May, Club advisor Shehata Sensei, or visit her classroom in room P-3. Hope to see you there!
