Good morning Vikings! This is your K-V-I-K-S News Bulletin for Wednesday, September 9th, 2026. My name is Jessie. Today's periods are 2, ADVISORY, 4, and 6.

Speech and Debate Fundraiser (9/9–9/11)

Speech and Debate club will be selling Lili-pops everyday after school for the rest of the semester in A12a, Ms. Baum's room for the first half hour or as long as the door is open. Liliipops are delicious frozen popsicles in local flavors. They cost $3 and come in the following flavors: Lilikoi, White Pineapple, Dragonfruit Lemon-Lime, Hibiscus Cinnamon, Matcha, Coffee, and Lemon-Lime.

KVIKS Meeting(9/9-9/10)

Hey KVIKS Media Members! If you are interested in joining or are returning, please join our first general meeting of the year this Thursday in room C-219 during lunch, please do not go to our old meeting room, go to room C-219. Come by to room C-117 today to sign up for lunch. See you there!

 

Senior Parent Night (9/8-9/10)

Hey seniors! Senior parent night is TOMORROW September 10th at the pool! But before that there is a mini college fair at 4:45 and the meeting will start at 5:30! This is the first way you can get a commencement ticket, so be sure a parent or guardian can attend!

 

ACE Sessions (9/9-12/14)

Just a reminder that ACE Sessions are available for students who need to make up unexcused absences while also having time to complete academic work. Sessions are held in the cafeteria on select Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the semester. The first ACE session is on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 8:00 AM. Students must stay for the entire session, bring their student ID, and have schoolwork or a book to work on. Remember Vikings, Attendance Cultivates Excellence!

 

PSAT Testing (9/9-9/17)

The PSAT/NMSQT is scheduled for WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2026. Those who are in 9th -11th grade, interested in attending college, and taking the SAT should consider taking this practice test to better prepare them for the real SAT. 

 

Waivers are available for 11th graders who qualify for Free/Reduced lunch. For all others, the test costs $18. Spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis with priority given to current 11th grade students on the first day of registration.  There will be no make-up PSAT testing.

 

Registration and payment of $18 (CASH ONLY) will be collected during recess and lunch in C-217 on the following dates

 

For Juniors, Wednesday, September 16, 2026

 

For Grades 9-11 - Thursday, September 17, and Friday the 18th, 2026 (if seats are available)

 

Please bring your school ID along with your EXACT CASH PAYMENT OF $18.

Cancellations are non-refundable.

This PSAT/NMSQT testing is only open to HILO HIGH Students.

 

Ho'ala Academy Parent Meeting Night (9/9-9/11)

Ho‘ala Academy will be hosting an online Parents' Meeting this Sunday, September 13th, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Concerns with Infinite Campus and mid‑quarter grades will be discussed.

Families can join through Google Meet using the link or the QR code on the slide.

Boeing Mechanical Engineer Talk (9/8-9/11)

Are you interested in engineering and aviation? Stephen Pauelua, a mechanical engineer for Boeing, will be visiting our school on Friday, September 11th at 8:30 AM! ​If you would like to attend his talk, speak to Mrs. Blair  at BB102 to get a pass.

Dive Team Conditioning (9/3-9/14)

Conditioning for the Hilo High School Dive Team will start on Sept 15th. Please have a current physical completed and submitted to Athletics (Rank One). Stop by Ms. Naukana 's classroom  N101 for more information.

 

This week in the Career and College Office

 

TOMORROW, September 10th, Oregon Institute of Technology, located in Klamath Falls, Oregon, will be here during Pd 3 at 10:15am.

And on Friday, September 11th,  Washington University in St Louis, located in St. Louis, Missouri, will be here during Pd 2 at 9:55am.

 

If you are interested in learning about any of these colleges, please go to Mrs. Frias' room, N-103, to sign up and pick up a pass.  These sessions are open to all grade levels.
