[VIDEO] Science Olympiad Club Signups (10/13-10/16)

Have you ever thought about joining Science Olympiad, but told yourself, ‘No way, I’m not smart enough’? If that’s you, you are definitely not alone. It's the exact phrase we hear almost every time we try to recruit people.

While it does sound a bit intimidating, Science Olympiad isn’t about what you already know. First of all, you learn as you go. Nobody walks into this club as an expert on etymology or rocket propulsion. We choose topics that sound interesting, and we figure them out together from scratch. Second, it’s basically an open-book test—sort of. For most written events, you are actually allowed to bring a big binder full of notes right into the testing room.

If you're even a little bit curious, scan that QR code on the screen. Make sure you do it as soon as possible, because that’s how we send out updates or alert you if our schedule ever changes. We meet on Friday right after school at 2:20 in room C-209. If you have any questions or need help getting started, email me at [email protected]. Hope to see you there!

[VIDEO] Hoʻoulu Academy Core Values (10/15-10/20)

Aloha, Ho’oulu Academy! Ho’oulu Academy is excited to recognize students who demonstrate one of our five core values throughout our campus.

These values help guide us in how we treat others, make decisions, and contribute to our school community.

Each month, we will be on the lookout for students who put one of these core values into action in their everyday lives at school. For the month of October, we will be focusing on Hō’ihi, or Respect!

Starting next week, we will be watching for students who show respect toward their classmates, teachers, staff, and our school campus.

Remember, showing respect can be as simple as listening when someone is speaking, using kind words, following directions, or treating others the way you want to be treated. Let’s continue to live our core values and show what it means to be part of the Ho’oulu Academy ʻohana!

Mahalo, and keep showing your Hō’ihi!

Here’s today’s Menu:

For Wiki: Uala Bread, Turkey Sausage Patty, Pineapple Chunks, Fresh Fruit, Yogurt & Granola

For Lunch: Loco Moco w/ Ulu Gravy or Protein Popper Caesar Salad, Steamed Broccoli, Cucumber Pickles, Tropical Raisins

Thank you for watching. Download the Hilo High mobile app, visit our website hilohigh.org, and follow @hilohighschool or @hilohighathletics on Instagram for more content. This concludes today's bulletin, have a great day Vikings!
