This video will introduce you to the new PTP format on Google Classroom and show you how to get started. The new PTP can be worked on using a Chromebook, using Chrome on a laptop, or on mobile devices such as iOS and Android, provided that you have the Google Classroom, Drive and Docs apps installed. Alternative ways to access the PTP will be provided in other tutorials.

Joining the Google Classroom

On the Hilo High Student Portal, click on the Google Classroom Icon, or you can go to classroom.google.com. For this website to work, you might be signed in with your viking account.

Click on the Plus icon in the top right corner. Each graduating class has their own class code. Students must use the correct code for their graduating class to complete the PTP. Type in the class code provided by your teachers or counselor and press Join.

After joining the class, you will see your graduating year and the PTP classroom homepage. Here you will see each PTP item as an Assignment.

Each assignment is now an editable Google Doc. Some are programmed to make a copy for you, while others are read only and requires you to upload evidence as files. Scanning and uploading documents will be covered in another tutorial.

Some items, such as the Post High School Checklist requires you to checkmark items. Simply copy and paste the checkmark from the Need to Done column. Don’t forget to delete the checkmark from the need column once moved. If prompted for a signature, type in your name as an electronic signature.

TURNING IN ASSIGNMENTS

When you completed your PTP item, do NOT press the Turn In button. The PTP is a living document that is meant for you to keep updating it even after it is graded. Turning In a document restricts you from making changes. The ones grading the PTP will infer that your PTP is done on the scheduled due date.
