This semester, we are offering a distance learning curriculum in Acting, Music, Technical Theatre, and Play Writing. Our goal is to produce a virtual New Playwrights Festival in December. This is a project we have done annually for 23 years. It's exciting new territory to have our students write and perform for a virtual stage!

School Administration released the guidelines for the event via social media, the most important being: "The public is not invited to participate in the event as we must observe the social distancing regulations."

Class of 2020 senior luau will be on Saturday February 29th, 2020 at the Hilo High first patio, the cost will be $20.00 and forms are available for pick up at A12B from January 13-17 and payment will be on Jan 20-24.
The Performing Arts Learning Center, PALC, will hold 2 registration meetings for semester 2. You only need to attend one of the two meetings. The first is meeting is Tuesday, January 14, from 3-4:30 pm. The second meeting is Wednesday, January 15, from 3-4:30 pm.

Seniors! Your commencement song practices are starting on January 13th. Every Monday beginning January 13th, please report directly to the Pool when pd 2 ends. Song practice begins at the start of 1st recess. Anyone who reports more than 5 minutes late will be considered absent for that day's practice and will lose that ticket. Hilo High School Canoe Paddling conditioning will be from Monday, November 4, 2019 to Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM at the Hilo High pool. You must have a current physical on file to participate.
The Harriet Bouslog Labor Scholarship - $2,000 - open to students who are related to a current, retired, or deceased member of ILWU Local 142, planning to enroll in one of the UH System schools.
The Hilo Women's Club Scholarship - $1,000 - open to students graduating from an East Hawaii High School, with a GPA of 3.0 and higher, planning to attend UH Hilo or Hawaii Community College next year.
On October 28, 29,& 30 Project Vision Hawaii offered FREE vision screening for all students at Hilo High School! The screening took about 15-20 minutes per student as they underwent various preliminary vision checks. Students from our Clinical Health Pathway classes assisted with the screening process, along with members of our local Lions Clubs. Students identified for further testing may also be eligible for free glasses!!

Students attending the College Fair on Friday, 10/25 - you will be missing lunch on Friday. Please plan accordingly by eating Wiki, or by bringing a home lunch with you that day. You will all report to your pd 4 classes as usual. An announcement will be made to excuse you at 10:30am. Buses will leave Hilo High at 10:45am. We will return to pd 6 around 12:15pm.

Each card can be turned in for 5 HERO points and you can make a total of 4 cards to earn a maximum of 20 points. All cards are DUE on October 30 back to A-16 at recess and lunch.
