Aloha my name is Thomas. the National Weather Service one of Noah's six-line offices operates 122 weather forecast offices in six different regions across the continental US the Pacific Alaska and Puerto Rico the weather forecast office in Kona who is one of the most unique facilities in the National Weather Service we are responsible for all of the watches warnings in as well as local public Marine Aviation fire in hydrology forecast a National Emergency Management neurological data that is critical to maintaining an input into numerical order in addition to these weather forecast office responsibilities in Honolulu take over full responsibility for the National Hurricane Center in Miami special aviation forecast responsibilities neurological terminal Aerodrome forecast area for an air mass clouds and I say finally we also have full-time high seas forecast responsibility that works in collaboration with the Ocean Prediction Center in College Park Center in Miami Florida to forecast winds waves and surface features across the Pacific both north and south of the Equator and navigation system would need to be science and math and major in meteorology or related field in their undergraduate studies internship experience to help make themselves more we have a lot of applicants for just a few openings opportunities that you want to be on the lookout for it opportunity there are also other opportunities ATT or minority-serving institutions undergraduate scholarship program as well as level position into the Weather Service many of these Pathways intern are later converted to permanent employees were here with their local weather forecast or with their local broadcast media there are so many other careers in the National Weather Service besides this meteorologist we have positions that specialize in hydrology physical size climatology information technology and electronics maintenance emergency National Weather Service
