The County of Hawaii launched the Hawaii Island Travel Survey to understand barriers to walking and biking to school. This data will inform their Safe Routes to School program, aiming to increase active transportation options for children and promote healthier lifestyles.

Taking the written test for a learner’s permit to drive in Hawaii can now be accomplished in the comfort of your home, in a classroom or just about anywhere! Thanks to a new program, taking the written test can be done conveniently online! Test first, then go to a driver licensing center to complete the paperwork.

The application window for Quarter 3 bus passes is now open until January 17th, 2025. If you would like to ride for the third quarter, you can submit your application online or pickup and return a paper copy at the main office. Starting Monday October 28, to November 18, 2024 Speech and Debate will be hosting a HOPE service donation collection! So drop by room A12a(Ms. Baum), B45(Ms. Laliberte), or room R11(Ms. Sullivan) and put any unopened and unused hygiene products in the donation box. Thank you for your contribution!

Tis the season Vikings! It's finally that time of year! The holiday season is fast approaching, and with it is our annual Christmas Corners event on December 2nd, 2024 from 5pm-8:30pm at Hilo High School. If you're interested in decorating your hangout spot, come to A16 during lunch on Wednesday November 6th to pick up a packet and attend an informational meeting.

On November 2, 2024, from 10am to 4pm, the Pacific Tsunami Museum is thrilled to offer FREE admission for Kama’āina (ID required for adults). Zero Waste Hawaii will be visiting the Pacific Tsunami Museum with information for Hilo's reusable wears system. Kumu Robert Beebe of Lei Hulu O Hilo (Auntie Doreen Henderson’s lineage) will be showcasing his feather lei.

Prices for the page are as follows: A Full page is $200, Half a page is $100, and 1/4th page is $50. Designs for Senior Ads are due in December. Please read this letter from the Hilo-Waiakea Complex Area Superintendent sent home to parents regarding a recent security incident.

The Academy is a three-day intensive program for high school students who may be interested in justice, the law, leadership, advocacy, and/or careers in the legal field. The camp is from October 8 - 10, 2024 at Hale Kaulike (Hilo Courthouse) Scan the QR Code to apply!

The public is invited to learn more about traffic safety at the Laupahoehoe Gym this Sunday from 8 AM to 12 PM. There are different activity booths and exhibits teaching you how to hook up a trailer, and awareness on tow trucks and tires!

Please be sure to check Google Classroom for upcoming projects. There are 4 projects posted right now and we need to know if you will be attending. Please fill out ALL of the Google Forms EVEN IF you cannot attend. Permission forms for this weekend's project is on Ms. T's door. Also, if you haven't turned in your LEO Club application and dues, you can turn it in to Ms. T in room A-19. Again, don't forget to fill out the Google Forms!

The PSAT/NMSQT is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2024 in the Hilo High Cafeteria. Those who are in 9th-11th grade, interested in attending college, and taking the SAT should consider taking this practice test to better prepare them for the real SAT. 11th graders who qualify for Free/Reduced lunch test for free. For all others, the test costs $18. To register, fill out the Google form: https://forms.gle/A2oPSfoP2jHuEeUd9. Spaces are limited to the first 100 students so sign up now!

This Saturday September 7, 2024 we will have our first student section at our football game against the Konawaena Wildcats, it'll be camouflage themed. Come dressed up in camouflage themed attire! For example you can wear colors of brown, green, black, you can also wear eye black. We'll be giving our free gifts to the first 20 people. Come and support our football team against Konawaena!

The Hawai‘i State Department of Education (HIDOE) Federal Impact Aid Program Surveys will be released to all students on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.  Parents are asked to complete the survey cards and return them to the school by FRIDAY, September 6, 2024.
